The moment of truth

The Nahuatl language (Aztec language) is widespread in North America and spoken in many dialects. That brings home the description I've read of Nahuatl that "some dialects are not mutually intelligible."
I'll repeat my fave riff by a linguist who predicted that by 2050, 80% of humans will think they speak Anglish, and 80% of those will not be able to understand each other. Subtitles are our friends.

Tomorrow will be 7 days in the queue for me. They seem to be slow right now.

There's a contest going on, and contest entries get priority, so if you did not enter it there's a chance the process might take longer as a result. I've published 23 stories and all have taken from 3-5 days, other than contest submissions, which have taken as little as 2 hours. 7 days seems long to me, but maybe it's slower right now.

My last three (over the last month) were all 6 - 7 days. In previous times, yes, 2 - 3 days was typical for me, but right now it's twice that.

I've posted almost 120 stories in five years, and posted and withdrawn a few dozen songs-poems. Poetry acceptance seemed to go faster. Write your pr0n as free verse or an epic ballad and it'll probably be up fast -- for the three dozen readers of such stuff. Laurel usually takes 2-5 days for my prose, depending. Rejections, rewrites, and resubmissions take longer.

I think I've seen eight days for a new submission, but I'm going by memory; I don't keep records. I've had about ten days on a rewrite.

Anyway, RosieVelvet: the first comments are always interesting, but don't worry if you get a troll. The first comment I ever got was an "unmitigated" (defined as irrelevant?) troll. I wasn't prepared for that.

"Favorites" are nice to get, but I've yet to have more than nine - in Loving Wives of all places.

I get a fair number of favorites, but I believe that a significant number of them are people using the favorite option as a bookmaker in my series.

There is a reading list section in the New CP. Not that that helps anymouse in the slightest.

Yes, but I don't think most readers know the process for adding stories to it, and the "Favorite Story" button is right there at the end of every story, so it's easy, and to many, an established habit.

This is my problem. I see the reading list in the CP, but don't see how to add the story into it? Can you explain how?

I've only once or twice had the site tell me that someone added my story to a list. That feature doesn't seem to be catching on very well.

Readers bookmark with favorites. They can also remove stories from favorites, but for me that doesn't happen very often. They also bookmark with "favorite author." I think people will favorite me, read everything in my short catalogue that interests them, realize that I only produce a story every three months or so, and then un-favorite me.

Rejection hurts.

As odd as this may sound...I'm kinda relieved you don't know...sorta embarrassing being the only one

I think I stumbled across an "add this story to a list" button some time. I just went looking for it, and couldn't find it.

RejectReality usually knows where those things are, but if you have to go to an expert to get the answer, then maybe there's a design problem.

Sure. It's not the most convenient or useful process, but it's not difficult.

Click on Readings Lists. Enter the name of the story you want to add into the search bar. When the story comes up, click on it and then add it to your list.

The problem is there's no way to add a story that you are reading to the list, via a button that's accessible while you read the story. That's what's needed.

We're all using the old interface when we read a story. It doesn't link all that well to the new interface. I imagine that'll be fixed, but Manu has his list of priorities.

I'm sure. My comment was not a criticism of the two of them. I have no idea how they keep this site going.

Oh that's sneaky...I would have never figured that out w/o your help ~ :rose:

That sorta implies I'll need two screens open in my browser, I've yet to find a one step back to the new CP. I really like the new CP though and it's what I log into and use.

I know this is really old school, but instead of having two screens open, you could just use something like a pen or pencil and write down the name of the story, then type it into the appropriate space.

Now I feel really old.

There's this other really old school app called memory. If you see a story you like, say its title to yourself. Then go back to your control panel and reading list page and enter that name in the search bar. More often than not, I can remember the name of the story and put the name in the search bar and get the right result. And nobody's ever lauded me for amazing feats of memory.

If this came off too snarky, I apologize.

You forget, young man, that many of us are...

...what were we talking about, again?

No, don't feel old...but can you suggest where one can obtain a pencil? There's no antique stores where I live. :D

My memory is good for about maybe three of four back-steps...but by the time I finally find a story I might want to read, and then see it's 12 pages long! I'm already 50 back-clicks away from my CP  It's easier to have the second screen open just awaiting my commands.

I regret to say, you're on my probation list for "ignore" for 'snarkiness'...I've never used that function ...hmmm, power to control my world !
