I don’t think I did much more than lurk here originally as the suggestions were often a little more exposing than I was comfortable with - so I am selfishly reviving with the sort of pose I might manage pull off... then it can revert to the gorgeous bodies that better suit classical art,

By the way - there’s a gents gallery... hint hint...

Oh I know they were quite exposing and there were some very challenging poses as well, I did do some in the gents thread in the early days of it.

Your white marble figure

Had a 10" Parian figure of a slave girl with ankle chain, my son's girl friend managed to smash it beyond repair when they were home alone, don't know what they were up to, but she never returned to apologize. My wife bought me a biscuit figure, but nothing like the beauty of the original. Don't want to sound petty, but I was glad she married another guy.

Great idea! I believe I’ll devote some of my rainy Friday to this project.

What a treat to revisit this thread. I remember it being so important in my life, and was surprised to see my involvement was just a couple of months [and 30 pages — HA!]. Big cheer to JRP if he’s still about, and thank you, AP, for bringing the thread back to life, and for a lovely statue to interpret.

I look forward to seeing what happens...

Ladies, when this thread first began I attempted a few of the poses and NEVER could get it right. One attempt leaving me in tears! HA!

I think everything about the pose, photography and props is exactly right and you did an exceptionally good job. It's a very good rendition of vintage erotica and very sexy. Also bear in mind that your a beautifully full figured buxom beauty and the original model isn't. So your pose is an absolute perfect rendition utilizing excellent artistic license. I really like everything about your posted pic.

I think it's lovely AP! These poses with draping fabric are extremely difficult to get right. Kudos for getting close to the original because I can relate to wanting to hurl my camera across the room trying to get one of these poses right.

Beautiful, Allia! It’s deceptively difficult, right? I think your interpretation is lovely. Early on, those of us accepting the challenges quickly began referring to our efforts as interpretations of the pose, rather than replications. That helps. As does a separate device for looking at the pose. And an eventual attitude of “Fuck it — good enough.” I’m also a perfectionist, and it takes a good bit of time and effort before I’m willling to adopt the attitude. I think when we were trying a pose a week, it became easier to get playful with it. I didn’t reach playful this time. Just frustrated, but determined.

Your shoulders are lovely in this photo, and communicate a sense of vulnerability that I thought was the heart of the pose. Brava!

A good part of the fun initially was that we talked about what went on behind the scenes in our attempts.

I gave up on this project twice, tidied away all my backdrops and draperies, then dragged it all out a second and third time to try again. By the third time, I was reciting a litany of left shoulder higher, left arm under and up, right arm wrapped, weight on forward right foot. I always have to figure out a pose’s weight distribution before I can do anything.
