Remember how ex-presidents used to ride off into the sunset and generally were only heard from on the rarest of occasions? Even Bill Clinton more or less disappeared on slut junkets, reappearing occasionally for extravagant speaking fees tied to seedy deals linked to his wife's job as secretary of State, until the Queen o' Sleaze her own self ran for president.
Barack Obama has been different. He's been out there taking credit for economic growth beyond the abysmal 1.5 to 2 percent quarterly growth that we had been assured was the new normal, with some quarterly growth well below that.
And no annual growth over 3 percent. Not gonna happen, Obama and his experts said. Not realistic.
Obama and his team also mocked Sarah Palin and others for their "just drill, baby" approach to solving America's need for fossil fuels. Now he's out there reminding audiences that this surge in productivity, and much lower prices at the pump, started under his watch.
Anyone want to guess where this productivity would be if the North Dakota oil fields were located on federal land rather than on private property?
And Obama mocked Trump for promising to bring back manufacturing jobs. He's seen telling an audience that it's not going to happen, no matter how much you might wish and hope and pray.
Turns out if you roll back regulations and revise tax policy that doesn't punish producers, those manufacturing jobs will come back - and they have.
And now Obama is on tour, appearing here and there and telling audiences all this economic success the U.S. is enjoying now is due to his policies, to his wise leadership. "Thank you, Obama," he tells the audience, and himself.
Pathetic.
Just pathetic.
