Story.

Leading Democrats in Congress called on Tuesday for cuts in U.S. support for Saudi Arabia and criticized President Donald Trump for failing to take action against Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who the CIA believes ordered the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Representative Adam Schiff, who will chair the House Intelligence Committee when Democrats take control of the House of Representatives in January, said it was “inconceivable” that the crown prince was “either unknowing or uninvolved in Khashoggi’s murder.”

In a statement, Schiff called for an immediate cut-off in U.S. support for Saudi military operations in Yemen and a suspension in U.S. arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

Well, good -- the less we have to do with that pointless war in Yemen, the better.

In January, the Dems can put the Trump/Kushner ties with the Saudis on the long menu of corruption and treason investigations.

How incredibly stupid. While the Saudi's are far from perfect they are the counter to Iran in the region. The democrats have consistently sucked at foreign affairs since JFK starting with Carter's human fucking rights initiative.

Sanctions? Yes, by all means. But the stakes are far too high to fuck up the relationship over a reporter who was aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Further, congress doesn't run foreign policy, the president does. So they can run their mouth all they want but they can't do shit about it.

Here's some food for thought.

How many specifically targeted individuals has Bush/Obama/Trump killed on foreign soil, some US citizens, via the use of drones and or SOCOM troops?

Before you say, "That's different, they were terrorists." you might want to consider whether it is only the US that gets to define who is and who isn't a threat to a nation? Does any nation that identifies an individual as a threat to their nation have to come to our president to seek approval before they remove said individual with extreme prejudice? Consider how this appears to other nations. Do you think they might be more than a little pissed off at the hypocrisy?

I can only hope the democrats sit back and consider the above before they continue with this blatantly partisan, and ill advised, endeavor.

The FAT FUCK was a TERRORIST in the eyes of SA

What that has to do with US

I HAVE NO CLUE

and peeps should STFU about HUMAN RIGHTS....fuck the MB and TERRORISTS

The war in Yemen we are supporting is the bigger issue.

This. The US must weigh all the issues regarding our interests world-wide. The death of one person is not worth making strategic political decisions over.

Call them on it. Make it known that we do not approve or condone. And then drop it.

Yemen.....the TERRORISTS are shooting ROCKETS into SA

They have a right to defend themselves

Fuck YEMEN!

So what? We have no good reason to side with either against the other. We have not even any good reason to prefer either to the other. Both are theocratic dictatorships, and both are equally dangerous. It does not affect U.S. interests adversely if the government of Yemen is an Iranian puppet instead of a Saudi puppet.

Further, congress doesn't run foreign policy, the president does. So they can run their mouth all they want but they can't do shit about it.

They control the money.

It is, in the sense that it shows the character of the regime we are dealing with. That matters. Now we're going to sell weapons to these people?!

A US worker was killed in a Consulate. There is a YUGE difference between that and us killing terrorists. I stand with America on this issue. Won't you please join me?

They keep saying Kashoggi was "aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood," as if that made a difference. But he was not a terrorist, he was a journalist. MB members are not automatically fair game.

This has nothing to do with Yeman...and everything to do with Iran. We should cut off Saudia Arabia...but then we lose the only Arab county that half-way supports us. If we kept our nose out of places we don't belong, none of this would matter

Interesting.

Yes, Jamal Khashoggi had many friends among the Muslim Brotherhood and, as his colleague David Ignatius reported days after his disappearance, had joined the movement himself as a young man before apparently shifting away from it later in his career. No one who knew Jamal at all is surprised by these facts, no matter with what lurid framing they are now “revealed.” Whatever sympathies and associations he may have had, they do not change the apparent fact that Jamal Khashoggi was kidnapped, murdered, and dismembered to silence his freedom of expression. Those on the right who have spent decades fighting for free speech on campus will leap to tell you, correctly, that freedom of speech demands respect regardless of the political valance of the views espoused—and that protecting the expression of unpopular views that challenge current political correctness is the acid test for the security of this right overall. So even if you believe that Jamal Khashoggi was a full-bore Brotherhood member with an agenda of Islamization for the Arab world, you should still condem his apparent assassination for the crime of speaking his mind.

Why should we care if they are?

Well, someone always brings up the possibility that the Iranians will nuke Israel (which they could hardly hope to reach with conventional forces). I should hope they're not that crazy.

So long as they remain a non-nuclear power, why should we care about Iran?

They wont remain non-nuclear.....they've continued to do whatever the fuck they want and are likely already there.

Obama's crayon lines that were never enforced + his paying them for voilating his red crayon mark? Yea, planes full of money is not how you stop someone from doing what they are doing.

You sure he wasn't? It should make a difference, the MB makes your "alt right" groups look like well behaved boy scouts.

There is zero chance Iran would start it...Israel on the other hand...

Those that support murder, are no better than those that commit murder. Either we are better than them...or we lower ourselves to their level.
