An anti-abortion law Vice President Mike Pence signed as governor of Indiana could become the case that lets the Supreme Court reshape abortion rights as soon as next year.

The Indiana law — which prohibited abortion because of the gender, race or disability of the fetus, such as Down syndrome — was blocked by lower courts and is one of three significant anti-abortion state statutes that are sitting one level below the Supreme Court. If Indiana appeals this fall, and the justices accept the case, it could be the opening for a broader ruling on Roe v. Wade that could redefine abortion rights nationwide.

That's idiotic they were not Nations. With few exceptions they were nomadic tribesman. According to you no one can be a nation unless they Implement gun control. Which they didn't.

They are aboriginals.

Ask your mom to explain to you what that means.

No, no state can be a state if it does not have a monopoly on armed force. Not all nations are states. The Kurds are a nation. The Gypsies are a nation. The Poles remained a nation even while ruled by foreign states -- that is why they were able to reconstitute a nation-state after WWI.

Well, they were nations, and as such still continued to own slaves even after the 13th Amendment.

As for aborigines, the Injuns killed them all off...

I guess as a member of two former nations, I am a more sensitive to their history.

Ginsburg misses Supreme Court arguments for the 1st time

WASHINGTON (AP) — Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is missing arguments for the first time in more than 25 years as she recuperates from cancer surgery last month, the Supreme Court said.

Ginsburg was not on the bench as the court met Monday to hear arguments. It was not clear when she would return to the court, which will hear more cases Tuesday and Wednesday, and again next week.

Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said the 85-year-old justice is continuing to recuperate and work from home after doctors removed two cancerous growths from her left lung on Dec. 21.
