Republican Senators Hiding from Being Held Culpable

September 27, 2018

They chose to hide behind the skirts of a woman.

They chose to not do their jobs.

They are working towards a great evil.

Putting efforts toward enacting a great evil.

But they do not want to allow history to record their voices.

The main phrase from the Republican party, throughout - "We don't care!"

Everything concerning Republicans and Kavanaugh has been a sham.

Republican senators are hiding behind the skirts of Rachel Mitchell. They kept her hidden from Democrats as long as possible.

She was an enabler of notorious Joe Arpaio's Arizona

Molly Osberg writes-

Forgive Me if I Don't Trust The Woman Prosecutor Interviewing Dr. Christine Blasey Ford*

Mitchell was promoted to lead the sex crimes unit in 2005, unseating a longstanding and well-liked prosecutor.

The person who promoted her, Andrew Thomas, was then only a week into his tenure.

Andrew Thomas used his office to open criminal investigations against his political opponents, especially those who questioned his immigration policies.

Rachel Mitchell, worked for Joe Arpaio’s enforcer

Mitchell’s next boss, Bill Montgomery, has held the office since a special election in 2010. He’s been giving glowing endorsements of Mitchell to the press ahead of her appearance in Washington, DC.

As Joe Arpaio’s enforcer, Montgomery aided in the rounding up of immigrants.

Mitchell and her office did not respond to a request for comment by press time. Though Maricopa County isn’t publishing its clearance rate for sexual assault cases these days, the state of Arizona at large saw a clearance rate of about 10% of sexual assault reports. The nation average is around 34%.

In 2011, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office was the subject of a federal civil rights investigation for discriminatory police practices and, specifically in the case of sex crimes, a failure to investigate or charge incidents reported by immigrants. In the three years leading up to 2007, Arpaio’s office received 400 reports of sex crimes that were either inadequately investigated or not worked at all. “If established, this may constitute a failure to provide police services in a manner that constitutes gender and/or national origin discrimination in violation of the Equal Protection guarantee,” wrote the Department of Civil Rights in its 22-page letter to Bill Montgomery.

Recently, supporters have said that Mitchell was partially responsible for cleaning up this particular mess, going through the cases and deciding which to prosecute. At the end of the re-investigation process, 115 of those cases were determined to be “unfounded;” 221 were cleared without arrest, and only 19 went to the court.

They sat silent as tombstones as Dr. Christine Blasey Ford testified about what she alleges Brett Kavanaugh did to her

It is not often that you see a complete panorama of abject cowardice like you saw on the majority side of the dais of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday morning. Eleven white men, with the constitutional duty to advise and consent on the nomination of people to be justices of the Supreme Court of the United States, sitting as mute as a row of tombstones, refusing even personally to yield their time to the hired-gun woman who was questioning Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

They let the befuddled—and befuddling—chairman, Chuck Grassley, yield for them, and they let Rachel Mitchell ask their questions, and they sat there, shirkers and poltroons all. They should send their salaries for the day to battered women's shelters in their home states. By 11 a.m., any moral basis for the continued existence of the Republican Party had evaporated. It was striking. The next time that Ben Sasse or Jeff Flake start moaning about how we've all abandoned "civics," their tongues should turn to fire.

And the sight of those 11 white men sitting there, mute as tombstones, abandoning the oaths they took when they became senators, turning their back on their duty and deserting their posts—that's something that's going to stay around for a while, too. For good and all, and for the foreseeable future, the Republican Party abandoned its obligations to the Republic. All those quiet Republican men, they muted the voice of Abraham Lincoln in their party forever.

The saddest part, was that a Democrat senator was forced to step between Dr. Christine Ford and the prosecutor that Republicans had recruited.

"You are not on trial."

Rachel Mitchell is a Republican political operative working in Arizona, as prosecutorin courts of law. Ms Mitchell knew better, but she insisted on crossing the line, many times. Senators had to step forward and stop her.

We are not at Handmaids Tale level, quite yet. But, we have just witnessed a woman that was cooperating with playing the part of Aunt Lydia, and the Republican senators did very well, filling in for Commanders. When Republican Aunt Lydia substitute came too close to un-ravelling their protective barrier around Brett Kavanaugh, Graham took over the microphone from Rachel Mitchell, the Commanders' "assistant."

I asked Kavanaugh whether, like Dr. Ford, he had taken a polygraph, whether he would call for an FBI investigation into the allegations, and whether he watched Dr. Ford's testimony. None of his answers were "yes"

Republicans wouldn't ask the accuser, who happens to be a woman, any questions. But once the accused, a man, was in the witness chair—turns out they had quite a lot to say

NARAL

@NARAL
.@LindseyGrahamSC having a full-blown tantrum on the floor. Calls Kavanaugh's victims' allegations "a sham" and says Kavanaugh owes no one an apology. Graham says Kavanaugh—not the women that he assaulted—have been through hell. #BelieveSurvivors #StopKavanaugh

After Graham ended the charade that the Republicans would not question the witnesses directly...

Rachel Mitchell was used by GOP to question Dr. Ford so they wouldn’t come off looking cruel and insensitive. Now Kavanaigh’s turn and the GOP is praising him, telling him to keep fighting, and that they’ll vote for him. If it’s not a trial the why did you bring in a prosecutor?!

So the 11 white male of the @GOP wouldn't question Dr. Ford, so now that Lindsey Graham blew up, you now have the backbone to ask questions of Kavanaugh??? So much for being fair.

Leaving the GOP

I became a Teenage Republican during the '64 election. I went door to door and worked the phones all during this election as a 16 year old. I watched on the television the party conventions when I was as young as 8 years old. Through the years I have noticed a change in both parties but more so in the Republican party. This change has not been for the better. I got to see the Watergate investigation while home recovering from an injury. Since I'm retired I got to watch the latest Senate confirmation hearings. I watched Kavanaugh being evasive with his answers to questions from Democrat members of the committee. I watched Kavanaugh get smart mouthed with two Democrat committee members when asked about his drinking in high school. I watched the committee chairman Senator Charles Grassley sit closed lipped while Kavanaugh was pulling these stunts. I watched Senators Ted Cruz and Lindsay Graham brow beat the committee for questioning Kavanaugh. Senators Grassley, Cruz, Graham and McConnell are a disgrace to the Republican party and to this Nation.

At the next presidential election I will be registered as Democrat and voting for the first time a straight party ticket. I will never vote for any Republican again. The Republican party is only enriching themselves rather than doing what is right for the nation.

Welcome to the other side. You're not alone. It's not you that has changed, but the party. Being a good decent human never went out of style. Same here, started my life as a republican and by the time I hit my mid-30's, I left them behind.

My 2 cents.

First issue for FBI. Whose house was the party for the six teenagers held in??

Whose house would you feel comfortable raping a girl in?
On someone else’s bed? Bet you it was in Mark Church’s bedroom.
Hard to find addresses? All but one attendee is known.

How long is the walk back to Ford’s house

Two simple facts the Republicans can’t fathom the FBI being able to figure out

If the FBI corroborates... you know that’s just proof of the Deep State!

Who admitted to the felony? Did the Republicans demand their names? Have they released them? Who is playing politics??

Someone committed perjury.

Brett already perjured himself claiming he was drinking legally at 17 or 18
Was he that stupid? Is he that stupid now?

And if he drank himself into a stupor many times in high school and college, how much drinking is he still doing?

I wouldn't be surprised if he came to yesterday's hearing three-quarters plastered. It would explain a lot about his demeanor there.

I thought much of Kavanaugh's behavior was appropriate to the Democratic dunces asking the same questions again and again. Where did they find that Whitehorse guy and the lady asking him if he was familiar with very basic legal terms.

Well, of course you did.

More importantly, how much gambling?

Ooo. Something new for the FBI to pursue? It has been mentioned during the hearings but he hasn't been exposed on that like he has on other issues. A whole new line of entertainment?

The GB Trumpettes will be so energized. :D
