I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we share a goal and when we want to achieve it by, and then come back and celebrate our achievements together :D

They can be big goals, such as getting a promotion or new job. Or smaller goals, like making a new dinner recipe! You never know, another litster may have some good advice to help you along your way!

I think people are too quick to remember things they consider their failings, and forget about the achievements.

So let’s get goal setting!

🎉 🎊

1. Continue losing weight and keeping fit - ongoing
2. Change jobs by the end of next year
3. I’m hoping that by Christmas, I can be in a home that is fit to live in

I think this is a great idea for a thread. I hope (unlike me) it has staying power...:rose:

1. I want to completely finish my book (A novella - 35,000 words). I am 99% of the way there, but the last 1% is a challenge for me.

2. I want to see if I can enter the book into a contest, just to see what the reaction is to it.

3. I want to see if I can get an agent.

I don't necessarily do goals. I am big into law of attraction. So I declare to the universe what it is that I want. And then I get it. Am manifesting some things right now. All good.

Maybe I’ll end up posting and celebrating by myself 😂
I hope not, but I’d do it anyway, as I could do with reminding that although it feels like every step forward is accompanied by fifty steps backwards, I’m still making steps.

As a writer, I like these goals! What is tripping you up on the last 1%? Writers block? Is that the editing stage?

I’m glad you have something that works for you! :) Hopefully you will stop by to encourage others with their goals! :rose:

Stay focused on the 2-steps forward. The 50-steps backwards just gives you more opportunities to celebrate the 2-steps forward. The key is to not define yourself by accomplishment of goals. That let's you set higher goals - stretching yourself - without feeling like a loser if you don't meet them.

Good luck on your goals.

I tried a different way of writing the book, and it worked well for me. But the attention-to-detail in making scenes smoothly flow within chapters is the final 1%. Lots of editing, but some additional minor writing.

I'll get it done soon.

I like this!

Goals recently met...

Completed Beginner of phase of DDP Yoga.

Kicking ass at work.

Next goal...complete Intermediate level of DDP Yoga. And complete a writing project.

Short term goals: finish the Montreal and Quebec City marathons in September and October.

Medium term goal: finish the Lumberjack Challenge at Ottawa Race Weekend in 2019.

Long term goal: finish an Iron Man before I turn 50.

Thank you. I’m hoping to get a good focus on the forward steps, instead of being overly crushed at the backwards ones! It’s one of the reasons I wanted to start a thread, I’ll post the other shortly.

Ah, I’m familiar with that stage! I’ve always found that the attention to detail and flowing part is particularly difficult, because by that stage, you practically know it off by heart, and end up reading what SHOULD be there. (Especially in the case of missing words - ‘and’ and ‘the’ being the biggest culprits! What’s helped me before, is completely putting it aside for a little while (not too long, mind!) and coming back to it with ‘fresh eyes’

Get my anxiety back under control.

It hasn’t fluctuated this badly in years - Snip -

I'll be sending positive vibes that you achieve all of those 😊🌹

Thank you :rose:

Any goals yourself?

To finish getting dental work for sure!

I'm about half way through it but I have to wait until I can get it finished.

(Its out of my control)

That and maybe lose some weight and get healthy-ish 😊

Thanks for asking 🌹

I’ve got some dental surgery I’ve been needing as well, so I know what it’s like waiting on that! Extremely frustrating!

My goal for today is to get through work without an emotional meltdown. Only three hours sleep when already exhausted, and I’m struggling to keep my emotions in check. So today is not a good day to be working with the public, with whom a lot of patience is required!

Oh yes! Very frustrating 😶😒

Hopefully we'll both get ours done soon 🌹

A short term goal - I’ve always wanted to learn how to make fudge!

So I looked up a recipe at work today (oops naughty me) and if I remember to get all the ingredients I will give it a go on my next day off :D
