What's happening?

Is it good or bad?

The bots are working hard as we post all about the web. Search engines are constantly changing and confused.

Verizon has bought Yahoo who's been absorbed by Bing who's reliant upon Google. I'm an old Rocketmailer myself.

Microsoft, who dominates about 1/4 of the internet, is at war with the US Gov't and Google. I believe Apple and the Gate's companies are involved as well. FB is now reversing and changing many of it's policies as it addresses others. I suppose Twitter is part of Google .

Life Lock has joined with Norton. I've never trusted Norton or security companies like them. Nor do I trust FB and definitely never trusted Twitter.

I'm searching for a new source of info and dependability that doesn't rely so heavily on either of the above. I think I've found one. It's going to be tough from here on out.

We should stop chasing our tails around here. It's exactly what those who control the webs want us to do. Fuck the free adds and telemarketing bullshit.

Mark Zuckerberg is making his rounds in Washington D.C.. He's supposed to be addressing Congress on the latest FB scandal.

FB stock has plummeted at least 14%.

We're not so much pawns as we are poker chips. Pawns at least have innate value. Whoever gets the most poker chips wins and the game is always changing.

Personally, I think it's cool and it's an exciting time to be alive.

Very much so.

I know there is, or was, a group of people who are trying to develop an alternative web that is compartmentalized or something. Can't seem to find anything about it now.

I always thought that it'd be cool to create a new DeepWeb that doesn't allow data tracking or cookies and specifically targets and bans corporations that attempt to dominate or datamine like Google and/or those similar to Cambridge Analytica.

IBM seems to be on the fast track back from nowhere. IBM never really went away.

I'm thinking of a group called CIVIC. Not sure what the group of people are called.

I don't think you understand what the deep web is.
Or the basics of operating a browser for that matter.

I freely admit I'm not a software engineer. Or an internet specialist.

Darkweb/Darknet are merely extensions of the current internet with sites that ordinary browsers can't find because the browser software doesn't have the code to do that built in. To play on the Darknet/Darkweb you need additional software.

I'm talking a whole NEW internet when I say Deepweb.

And hey, if you don't know the difference between Darknet and Darkweb...

Fuck you're stupid.

Here is your quick count down:

Deep Web: That part of the internet that for a variety of reasons is not indexed by standard commercial search engines.

Dark Net: An overlay network that can only be accessed by specific configurations, applications or non-standard protocols.

Dark Web: The actual website using anonymity tools like TOR and I2P that can only be accessed through those tool sets.

(Remember it like this: The Dark Web is on a Dark Net inside the Deep Web)

The challenge with social media is the whole problem of "something for nothing". It's actually something for something, that something being your information. Read the fine print.

There are social networks (completely legitimate ones) on the deep web - usually invitation only, or some sort of pay-to-play scheme in exchange for a moderated or controlled experience. They're pretty useful. They tend to be small communities (with the upper range being in the 10,000+ users).

Most of the "visible" social network are all crafted in the "get free social interaction, while we sell everything we can glean about you".

Ancestral Gophernet and Usenet are still around. The internetz are much more than the WWWeb and host many more protocols than are supported by webwarez. With basic tech chops, you can setup your own dark protocols. Have fun.

Jesus Christ, Tim. Next you'll be saying it's a series of tubes.

Everything about this statement is wrong. Why do you keep pontificating about stuff it's obvious you have no clue about?

Nice post. I enjoyed it. Thank you. Was cool of you to just tell us what you know instead of making us feel like morons for not knowing.

Fuck you're stupid.

Here's the rather obvious point you MISSED; I admitted I wasn't an expert. But here's the difference between you and me, I didn't have to do a quick Google search to find out what Darkweb/Darknet meant.

Unlike some...

Jesus, you're so fucking stupid it's painful just to read the shit you post.

Most of the social networks I've found on the deep web were specialized for hackers, scammers, pedos, whatever. Not saying they are all like that but it's what I've found. Hard to get an invite to good ones, too. One required a test so they knew you weren't being a HisArpy.

Oh you most obviously are not an expert. I think everyone can agree on that.
Your entire view of what the internet is is so...fuck I don't know the words to describe it. You clearly have so little understanding of how things work it's a true wonder you posted something about it.

Perfect example of being completely reduced to ad hominem attacks because

STUPID

And dickless because you sit and wait like a toad on a rock for someone to come along and post something so you can toss out a 1-liner that makes you feel SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD about yourself.

Clever you.

You're still stupid.
