For example, If you enjoyed this story, then check out my other stories on Smashwords.com/gjjy6f

Or something similar?

If you want to guide your readers to off-site material, you *could* put a mention into your author profile. But links inside a story are a no-go.

You can put links to Literotica pages within a story, so you can put a link in the story to your author profile and have you author profile give the outside URL (it won't be a link).

You might be able to mention a site if it was clearly part of the story, e.g. people interacting on Facebook. But promoting another site within a story is a no-no.
Even fictitious websites/links are forbidden because they might someday be activated as actual sites.

Essentially, Lit forbids outside links because they have no control over those sites and the sites can (theoretically) change content on a whim.

Yep, but I was referring specifically to mentioning without links. As far as I know it's still okay to post something like "I met him on Facebook".

My last story mentioned Facebook several times and didn't have a problem.

I think you can say "I bought it on Amazon". But if you changed the story so that the word "Amazon" was a link to the item that was bought, then the story would get rejected.

Inside the site links

So how are links within Literotica - say from one story to another - done? I assume HTML coding?

I would be helpful if someone could refresh my memory and describe the HTML formatting for that.

This is a link to one of my recent stories:

https://www.literotica.com/s/english-lane

This is the coding if you replace curved brackets with square ones:

(url)https://www.literotica.com/s/english-lane(/url)

Or you can do this:

English Lane

Again - This is the coding if you replace curved brackets with square ones:

(url=https://www.literotica.com/s/english-lane)English Lane(/url)

They're done by Laurel, when she posts them. Technically I have no idea, but when she interlinks stories (e.g. my collaborative pieces) she does all of it.

I just have to ask nicely.

'Fraid not; for the quoted above.
As if that ain't enough. we ain't here to advertise our (commercial) wares.
It simply isn't done.

I followed the instructions here for my previous submission and added my own html code.

https://www.literotica.com/s/bold-or-italic.

(The message boards use vB code which is slightly different.)

Anyway, to quote the above article, "We can help Laurel and ourselves by incorporating the relevant HTML tags that we need in a plain text submission which we can paste into the box provided. This saves Laurel work and means our work reaches our readers more quickly."

I was idly thinking about a story involving a fairly obscure haunting love song (not in the English language). It has been posted on YouTube, and would help the story significantly if readers could hear it being sung.

If such a link wasn't allowed I probably won't bother.

It won't be. No offsite links (even fake ones) are allowed.

From submission guidelines:

9. No HTML links or web addresses are allowed within stories.
