When the 2nd was written, 'arms' were cannons, muzzle-loaders, swords, archery, and lances... and the Founders wanted citizen militias, not a standing army. Get rid of the standing army and you can have all the arms you want, okay?

No need to suspend the 2nd, merely fully enforce it. A simple SCOTUS ruling that public possession of firearms requires membership in a well-regulated militia should do the trick. If you aren't regulated, keep your guns secured at home.

You have to pass a psychological evaluation to purchase "WMD"s and when you purchase them the weaponry must be made inoperable. (Gun barrels plugged and missile ignition systems remove) And they are going to cost a LOT of money. But if you have all those things then you can legally own them. You cannot take them out in public, except for parades or exhibition purposes

But an AR15 is NOT a "WMD". It is NOT a fully automatic "machine gun" It is a semi automatic rifle. That makes it no more dangerous than the Remington model 750 woodsman, the Winchester 351, the M1 Garand, the Browning BAR or a hundred other semi auto rifles on the market. The difference is that the AR15 LOOKS like its military counterpart and the others I mentioned do not look like modern military rifles.

I could show you pictures of 100 rifles and ask you to tell me which ones are "assault rifles" and you would get most of them wrong. The reason is the liberal definition of "assault rifle" is, "it looks scary". Either way you cannot go out in public and start shooting them. Explosives and WMD's are well regulated, right? You can't walk into a store anywhere in the US and buy dynamite. Since McVeigh blew up a federal building, fertilizer is well regulated, right? I'm aware that some hunting rifles are capable of doing the same damage as an "assault weapon." That is why I advocate for strict regulations on any firearm that capable of mass murder like dynamite or a fertilizer explosive.

We have too many crazy people in the US that we can do little about. What we can do to save innocent lives is to make some weapons inaccessible.
