The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
Gil Scott-Heron
You will not be able to stay home, brother
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and drop out
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip
Skip out for beer during commercials
Because the revolution will not be televised
The revolution will not be televised
The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox
In 4 parts without commercial interruption
The revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon
Blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John Mitchell
General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat
Hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary
The revolution will not be televised
The revolution will be brought to you by the Schaefer Award Theatre and
will not star Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia
The revolution will not give your mouth sex appeal
The revolution will not get rid of the nubs
The revolution will not make you look five pounds
Thinner, because The revolution will not be televised, Brother
There will be no pictures of you and Willie Mays
Pushing that cart down the block on the dead run
Or trying to slide that color television into a stolen ambulance
NBC will not predict the winner at 8:32or the count from 29 districts
The revolution will not be televised
There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
Brothers in the instant replay
There will be no pictures of young being
Run out of Harlem on a rail with a brand new process
There will be no slow motion or still life of
Roy Wilkens strolling through Watts in a red, black and
Green liberation jumpsuit that he had been saving
For just the right occasion
Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, and
Hooterville Junction will no longer be so damned relevant
and Women will not care if Dick finally gets down with
Jane on Search for Tomorrow because Black people
will be in the street looking for a brighter day
The revolution will not be televised
There will be no highlights on the eleven o'clock News
and no pictures of hairy armed women Liberationists and
Jackie Onassis blowing her nose
The theme song will not be written by Jim Webb, Francis Scott Key
nor sung by Glen Campbell, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash
Englebert Humperdink, or the Rare Earth
The revolution will not be televised
The revolution will not be right back after a message
About a whitetornado, white lightning, or white people
You will not have to worry about a germ on your Bedroom
a tiger in your tank, or the giant in your toilet bowl
The revolution will not go better with Coke
The revolution will not fight the germs that cause bad breath
The revolution WILL put you in the driver's seat
The revolution will not be televised
WILL not be televised, WILL NOT BE TELEVISED
The revolution will be no re-run brothers
The revolution will be live

And no easier way to buy approval from faceless whiny morons on the net then to go Boo guns Boo Republicans...look I hate them too! Now let me bask in all the posts where people agree with me and give me self worth.

Pathetic.

Pathetic.

Pathetic best describes the republican party. After nominating and getting a joke voted into office, after controlling the house and senate, after two shutdowns and months of "closed door" negotiations, only after all of that could they get a budget that completely goes against everything they have been preaching for decades.

Fucking pathetic.

Anti-gun folks talking about a revolution.....LOL

Man if y'all were 1/2 as critical of (D)'s as you are of (R)'s....we might have gotten a decent HC system last time they had total control and the power to force whatever they wanted but chose a (R)epublican scam to butt fuck the working/poor people dry instead. I mean there was NO problem with that, shit (D)'s are still jerking each other off over how wonderful RomenyCare is at filling their and their homies pockets. Going against everything they have been preaching and continue to run their mouths about.

But hey I guess it's only bad when the other party does it right? :D

Couple of fine partisan twats .

What are we complaing about?

BND is living in a gun-free zone revolution delusion and a couple of partisan hacks are bashing Republicans for half assing on their good talk just like Democrats do.

But it's only bad when Republicans do that stuff......when (D)'s do it they call it "Progress" like total assholes.

So let me get this straight....

Republicans are bad, and they obviously submitted a budget that would have encompassed they worst of everything they've ever proposed, and the ONLY reason they didn't get it passed was because there were elements within THEIR OWN PARTY who opposed it, and you choose to CRITICIZE their INABILITY to enact it?

I guess this is what passes for liberal logic these days.

Since you have obviously forgotten, let's revisit the 2016 Republican primary campaign. The Republican Party did not elect Donald Trump. The Republican Party did practically everything it could to DEFEAT Donald Trump, including running a whole shit load of candidates, most of whom were considerably more moderate than Donald Trump.

Despite the obvious base of support within the hard conservative wing of the GOP, Trump was ultimately elected by both mainstream conservative and moderate Republicans and, not so coincidentally, swing voters in FOUR decidedly heavily Democrat states, ALL of whom decided they would rather have a sharp stick in the eye than the sharp stick in BOTH EYES represented by Hillary Clinton.

So that is exactly what they voted for. And the polling data reflecting the public DISAPPROVAL of BOTH candidates reflects exactly that.

So why don't you guys stop blaming all this shit on the Republican Party and take some responsibility for nominating your own dog of a candidate who was quite obviously reviled even more than what we ended up with?

Funny, I thought Republicans controlled both chambers in Congress and the White House. Was there a big election recently that I missed?

The less The Federal Government gets done is ok by me no matter who is "in power".

You do have a penchant for living in the reality of your creation. Regardless of its basis in truth.

As opposed to the Crazy Town you live in? :)

I'm planning to use the money I'm saving as I bank my tax cut to buy another gun.

Which I can still buy.

Legally, which isn't easy, but it's not a problem with a clean background check.

And causing a revolution without guns might be problematic, because:

Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.

Still think America picked the right candidate?

I had to re-login for this one.

The pathetic idiot is you.

Your paragraph demonstrates - besides the skewed Adrina thinking - how you'd want the democrats to behave once they have the same power: imposing on everyone.
Like Hard Rom's signature: if we can gather enough snowflakes, we'd impose anything we want (paraphrased).

The Right is conservative i.e. responsible. it doesn't impose so as to put the country in turmoil, it fixes slowly, and carefully. It doesn't shove legislation down everyone's throat just coz they are majority right now.

And with a normal society being usually majoritarily idiots, and minority responsible thinking, why on earth would you preach such idiocies?

Hack.
