where i live, there is no top 40 radio station anymore. do they even still have those? i listen to an oldies station that plays 60's/70's and sometimes a station that plays 40's/50's. the songs still sound pretty good and i know that a lot of them are still showing up. but, it got me to thinking....i can't imagine anyone in 50 years saying, "i'd like to do a song that was first done by 50 cent (or eminem or take your pick). even other performers in the same genre don't make cover versions.
so, they've killed the royalties market for their music, too. it seems like the only thing that still sounds like rock and roll is the current country music, pop music is totally gone. there are no longer popular songs from broadway shows. where are the rodgers and hart of the 21st century?
