I was out riding my fatbike on one of the greenbelt trails this afternoon to clear my head and celebrate a nice warm afternoon of 23°F and no wind. The trail was a little soft and even with 3.8" tires, it was bogging a bit. I make it a point not to stop when going up a grade, so by the time I got to the top of the overpass over the dog mushing trail, my fat ass was seriously sucking wind. So I stopped for a minute. All I could hear was some fat fuck breathing, and then, off in the distance was the unmistakable sound of Ma Duece, the M2 Browning Machine Gun. The JBER crew was pounding some rounds downrange, and it was strange to hear it, where I was. I was in the forest on a hill, but there's a lot of humanity between me and the training grounds. Another 1/4 mile, and I'd never had heard it, because the local traffic noise would be quite loud. It's amazing what your senses pick up when you stop to smell the dog shit.
