It is wonderful that mainland Europe is so close. And I'm very sad that my country is distancing itself from it, figuratively if not geographically. I was very sceptical about the Channel Tunnel when they were building it, but I love it. You can get to loads of interesting places from London in hardly any time. Paris in a couple of hours, Brussels not much longer, Amsterdam in three now, I think, and even Lyon in under six. And I'm a big fan of the 'your car on the train' version, you can go anywhere you like then!

It used to be better even in Europe. You could put your car on a train at Calais, and sleep comfortably in a proper bed while the train whisked you to the south coast of France. Very efficient. I don't think it's an option any more, sadly. You can overnight from Paris to Venice (and other places) as a foot passenger, that's great fun too. Private cabin... Important to know the rule that you can't cum while the train is in a station. Some of those stops are reeeeaaaaalllly long...

The sleeper train is very interesting. The beds go sideways on to the direction of travel, and the train leans slightly as it goes around bends, so you can find that the penetration is suddenly deeper, or less deep, as you go. And the whole 'romance' of the thing is very alluring.

They've just announced that the sleeper train from London to the Highlands of Scotland is going to get 'suites' later this year, with double beds and ensuites. Might have to give that a try.

(It further occurs to me that I should be making a list of this sort of stuff for Lakey for this coming autumn )
