As open enrollment for Affordable Care Act coverage nears the deadline of Dec. 15, and Florida once again leads all states using the federal exchange at healthcare.gov, Heidi and Richard Reiter sit at the kitchen table at their Davie home and struggle to piece together the family’s health insurance for 2018.

The Reiters buy their own coverage, but they earn too much to qualify for financial aid to lower their monthly premiums. For 2017, they bought a plan off the exchange and paid $26,000 in premiums for family coverage, including their two sons, ages 21 and 17.

Keeping the same coverage for 2018 would have cost the Reiters $40,000 in premiums, a 54 percent increase. So they selected a lower-priced plan that covers less but costs $29,000 in premiums.

Like many ACA insurers, Florida Blue said it raised rates by 20 percent just to account for the president’s canceling the subsidy that helps low-income consumers cover their out-of-pocket costs, such as deductibles and copayments.

Snipped from a Miami Herald article. The more he talks the worse it gets.. And if they do manage to repeal it, then screw the millions that need health care and even worse the people with preexisting conditions.

Instead of just fixing it.. Or bring in single payer... Hell, call it Trump Single Payer but quit screwing with peoples lives..

This is all on Obama and the Democrats. Don't try and say any different.

Health care premiums for 2018 set to go up by as much as 50 percent

Several states have announced rates for health insurance premiums on the Obamacare exchanges for 2018. Topping the list is Georgia, with rates that are 57 percent higher than last year, while Florida said some premiums will be 45 percent higher.

Among the reasons for these increases is the uncertainty about the future of the Affordable Care Act. President Donald Trump has vowed to repeal and replace the health care law, which was passed under his predecessor President Barack Obama. Congress had repeatedly tried and failed to deliver on President Trump's promise.

Insurers are raising premiums in the face of repeated threats from President Trump to stop funding so-called cost-sharing reductions, payments to insurers that cover out-of-pocket costs for some low-income consumers. Trump previously referred to these payments as “bailouts” for insurance companies and threatened to stop making the payments so as to “let Obamacare implode”...

The whole need for Trump and the Republican Party to address the healthcare issue in the first place is traced directly to Obama, the Democrats, and their Marxist inspired beliefs that government could control, economically and efficiently, the health care of 320 million Americans. The disastrous result was predicted early and received not a single Republican vote.

How about canceling that multi-trillion-bucks corporate giveaway and funding healthcare with it? A healthier nation is A Good Thing, right? Politically smart, too. Opposing ACA and the rest of the social safety net is a sucker's bet. Whether you win or lose, you lose.

I’d say calling this ‘uncertainty about the affordable care act’ is akin to seeking to determine the seaworthiness of HMS Titanic...

Wow, the people in power should totally fix that. Folks need affordable healthcare. ;)
They are don't ya' know, as long as you're not poor, don't have a preexisting condition, keep your eyes tightly shut and your hands over both ears.

I'd say Trumps tack is much more akin the sinking of the USS Lexington.

I'd say you're completely lost. When Obama signed the ACA he fired the torpedo. It's just going to take it's time going off.

Care to show me any where in that article Obama said that?

This is all very predictable — yet so very contrary to what Democrats promised when they rammed this thing through. It costs too much and it’s not working the way they promised it would,” said Don Stewart, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Funny how ramming through horrible things like this "tax plan" is ok tho. What a bunch of hypocrites.... and even worse is the idiots like vette that sing their praises.

Also funny is how so many countries have single payer, yet it just can't be done here... tho we have no problem adding a trillion or two to the deficit, which was a HUGE problem during the Obama years..

Jeezus.. you people are so blind.

It's always ok when your team is doing it...that's what is so funny about you partisans.

Says the blindly partisan Democrat who has no problem with (R) policy and it's pillaging of the poor/working/middle class America as long as it's (D) that's spoon feeding it to him.

Tell us more how (R)omney care....I mean Obamacare is progress while ignoring what an absolute rip off it was.

Obamacare is only becoming problematic because it is being sabotaged. The Republicans have no plan of their own, but instead of formulating one or trying to make an existing plan work for Americans, they are sticking it to the people with party-first pettiness.

It's problematic because it's fucking lame.

It's a shit show scam, not even a good one and a terrible piece of legislation that was executed in a clumsy manner. You elected Obama and got Romney anyhow...L oh fuckin' L.

Maybe the (D)'s shouldn't be such chicken shit's and or greedy shit birds next time they have all the power to do the right thing.

The Republicans have no plan of their own, but instead of formulating one or trying to make an existing plan work for Americans, they are sticking it to the people with party-first pettiness.

That's because ideologically they don't need one.

But because money they are just as chicken shit to act on their promises as the (D)'s are. So the scam stays and spirals out of control.....

Awww...how cute. It's Capt Brain Dead here to try and stand right square in the fuckin middle and point fingers at both sides. You can play you're not a republican all you want, but you are.

Listen dummy... I'm blindly anything. I vote in my best self interests, and in this day and age it's easy to not vote republican. I have never thought the D were any kind of magical organization. There are two viable parties in this country... that will fuck us (D) and the other that goes out of their way to fuck us (R). It's the lesser of the evils, plain and simple.

Your thoughts on Obamacare are fuckin dumb. Always have been, always will be. If the republicans had given a single fuck to offering access to health care in this country it could have been single payer...instead their idea is fuckin nothing.

And you are a hypocritical POS using your VA benefits whining about anyone else having access to health care... and let's see what happens when the mound of weed you've obviously smoked every fuckin day turns into cancer, I'm sure you won't become a problem of the gubmint to save your sorry lard ass. You'll just whip out millions of your bullshit money.

Never registered as or voted for...so no...I'm not.

And no amount of pointing out your partisan hypocrisy will make me an (R).

It's the lesser of the evils, plain and simple.

LOL is that what you tell yourself when you pay your Romneycare tax?

Your thoughts on Obamacare are fuckin dumb. Always have been, always will be.

Of course because I'm critical of it instead of praising (D)'s for underhandedly scamming us with Romney care after we elected Obama under the promise of change instead of sucking them off for it like you and the other (D)ick riders out there.

If the republicans had given a single fuck to offering access to health care in this country it could have been single payer...instead their idea is fuckin nothing.

They don't, they shouldn't it's not really their job.

It's worse than nothing, it's just let RomBamacare ride......because they are just as cowardly as the (D)'s.

And you are a hypocritical POS using your VA benefits whining about anyone else having access to health care...

I've never whined about anyone else having access to health care. I whined about the Dems blatantly and knowingly selling the 99% out after talking all that good shit, and I'm double shit talking the partisan fan boys who kiss their ass for it and beg for more (R) scams with (D) packaging because they are too fucking stupid to know better.

Not really the same thing.

So no it's not.

and let's see what happens when the mound of weed you've obviously smoked every fuckin day turns into cancer, I'm sure you won't become a problem of the gubmint to save your sorry lard ass. You'll just whip out millions of your bullshit money.

lard ass? LOL is that a fantasy or a projection?

btw I rarely smoke and it's far more likely I'll get cancer from any number of exposures I've had than cannabis, do some homework grandpa reefer madness is bullshit and science suggest cannabis fights cancer, it doesn't cause it.

But, But Obama said it would be free and the media said it too and all the democrats said it was free so are they liars or did you Obama fans wake up to what the Republican's told you was bad years ago!

Obama's legacy Lost the War on Terror,Doubled the National Debt, allowed the mentally and physically unfit join the Military, allowed child rapist to use bathroom with your kid, imported terrorist and illegals into the country as the new slave class and loyal DNC voters and killed the 40 hour work week .......yep he was awesome!

I'm sorry but I've said it a dozen times here: I don't argue with stumps or Pigeons.

Middle class

I'm on Medicare my wife is 63 and her premium on Obamacare is going up to $990 per month with a $14,000 deductible for the bronze plan
That means we have to pay $11,000 and some dollars per year for the privilege of having a $14,000 deductible I mean yeah affordable health care I think not

But, But Obama said it would be free and the media said it too and all the democrats said it was free...
Citation?

Ah, TWAT, The War Against Terror. Terror is a tactic, not an entity. Try a war on ambushes. Or a war on infiltration.

Ah, National Debt. Did you notice that Dubya's Gang crashed the economy, and the big bailout was passed during Dubya's term? Or that the damage caused by that depression cost a bit to repair? Yeah, n!ggerz always get the shit jobs, cleaning up other people's shit.

Ah, Military Retards. Not like when Dubya's Gang lowered recruitment standards to allow gangbangers and dropouts because not enough qualified folks were enlisting, eh? Turns out that women and queers can perform military tasks quite well, thank you. Side note: The Israeli military recruits autistic folks because they're very, very good at detailed data analysis.

Ah, Bathroom Pervs. So you want a TG woman to use the men's room because her birth certificate says (M). But then she'd be raped there. Sad.

Ah, Imported Terrorists. We don't need to import any. Domestic terror by rightwing thugs is around 100x greater than attacks by immigrants. Yow.

Ah, 40-Hour Work Week. That kinda disappeared under Reagan and GHW Bush. Think WalMart. And public school teachers have long worked way over 40 hours, as have salaried professionals. I caught that in the 1980s.

But I get your point. Look, Obama!

Sorry. Deflection failed. You didn't earn your roubles. Your masters will be... disappointed.

I'd say Trumps tack is much more akin the sinking of the USS Lexington.
Not really, the Lexington was a good ship in her day.
He's sunk the ACA, which has always been a poorly designed cobbled together piece of legislation.
More like sinking the USS Gambier Bay. A lot of shots that missed the mark but finally the kill shots found their mark and sank her.

The democrats royally fucked up with the ACA. After bending over for the Republicans only to get zero votes, they should have been smart enough to know they weren't going to get any R votes and just pass universal health care.
We'd be better off and the Republicans would never do away with it. Or at least not if they ever wanted to get elected to office again.
