The Isolated Blurt Thread XLII : Saint Peter is a douchebag

Yum. I had barbacoa on masa and empanadas the other night. The barbacoa was divine, the empanadas less so, but the sauces they served with the were to die for.

A challenging dish. They need to be crispy but not oily. The size and thickness are crucial.

Trump is a 71-year-old billionaire that beat the Clinton machine and the mainstream media to become the 45th President of the United States.

Seems to me he's done pretty well for himself and his family.

His butter would not melt in your mouth.

We get it.

He is a miserable human being that measures his success "against others." I would say he's only done well for himself and his family, but even in that case, I believe he's brought more sadness and angst, regardless of how much money and golf there is.

He is a broker of misery.

(And he can go fuck himself.)

Governor Moonbeam: Stupid & Corrupt

...Soon, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will announce a plan to kill Diablo Canyon, our largest source of clean energy, and replace it with fossil fuels.

Who’s behind the CPUC’s effort to kill our largest source of clean power? Our anti-nuclear governor, Jerry Brown, who appoints its members.

As Brown travels around the world claiming to be a climate leader, emissions have risen in California every year since he took office. Meanwhile, throughout the rest of the United States, they declined.

The main reason? The Brown Machine’s successful effort to kill another nuclear plant, San Onofre, in 2012, and replace it with natural gas, at a cost to ratepayers of $3.3 billion.

The more I looked, the more corruption I found...

"...Right now, average Virginia families pay $1,500 a year for electricity. At California prices, their annual electricity bills would increase by $875; at German rates, by a whopping additional $2,900 a year!

At its current 8¢ cents per kilowatt-hour, Virginia’s Inova Fairfax Women’s and Children’s Hospital pays about $1.6 million annually for electricity. At California’s or Germany’s business rate (18¢ per kWh), the hospital would have to shell out $3.6 million for electricity. That unsustainable $2 million annual increase in the cost of keeping lights, heat, air conditioning, surgery centers and diagnostic equipment running would result in employee layoffs, reduced services, higher medical bills and declining patient care.

At 8¢ per kWh, the United States can power its homes, hospitals, businesses and industries for $280 billion annually. At German or California business and industry rates (18¢ a kWh), that electricity would cost $630 billion a year. At German family rates (35¢ a kWh), an economy-busting $1.2 trillion!

...California not only enjoys such mild climate that 40% of its homes don’t have air conditioning, and a seventh don’t have heating; it imports 25% of its electricity from other states. (And yet California’s electricity rates are the second highest in the Lower 48 States.)

Obviously, not every state can import one-fourth of its electricity from other states..."

I don't think I have ever heard an actually punctual person say, "I'll be right there." They just show up, or they tell you I will be there in 5 minutes or 10 minutes or whatever it is they need.

"I'll be right there!" means, "I'll be there sometime in the vague, distant future."

Whatever ablutions you have to attend to, surely you do it everyday and you should have a general idea about how long it takes.

Would you be in much of a hurry to see you?

It's lonely at the top.

The proper rituals you must attend to, grasshopper. The right habits and habituations will ease your passage through this ephemeral life. Pre-position your necessities, and their disposition will handle itself. A basket by your door into which to empty and fill your pockets will suffice, grasshopper. Keep fresh snot-rags, too.

the bag also appears to be close and sealed. what fun. back to eating pizza and listening to cbb.

it's on a hook, you knob. i can flagellate myself just fine.

Looks good. I see UPC codes, is making them your job?

Nah. I went to the bead show and they come strung and labeled. Those are just the labels by the bead seller. His inventory tags.

I'll have to destring, measure, sort and then order them for restringing to become two new necklaces for me.

It's cheaper and more fun than going to a jewelry shop.

Although I did see some higher end ones that I slobbered over a bit. But I'm not that rich. ;)

Damn.

Verdi's Requiem is the Metropolitan Opera Saturday radio broadcast. That's on in one room. Nobody can listen to Dies Irae without being affected. It's powerful stuff.

...and Oklahoma v. TCU is on in the other room.

If I stand in the doorway, maybe I can listen to both.
