Aussies! Check in here!

After this weekend and today and tomorrow. Im not ready for summer. Im moving to Alaska!!!!!
I might go gold mining while im there. I hate the hot weather. And i think we are going to be in for a muggy almost tropical summer.
I think ive drunk enough water to service a third world country.
Hopefully this time next year ill be smart enough to move country before november.....

Oh and footy was on yay ( gaelic still counts)

Can you take me with you?

Hot weather and I am NOT friends.

So..... The father of my 2 youngest is visiting from the USA. He's here for a WHOLE 2 DAYS!
How lucky are my kids!?! #sarcasm

He flies in, sees the kids, and then flies back out - leaving me with the fallout
Selfish bastard.

He has a major issue with setting eyes on me, let alone talking to me.
I am apparently a very scary person.....

*Sigh* more emotional crap for me to deal with in the coming days.

I hear you and just don't understand, it's about the kids not the parents.
At my sons wedding it was held down the coast about a 2 hr drive. Stayed their Friday and Saturday, with my kids (and a boyfriend with daughter), groomsmen, my ex and the mother inlaw. My relationship is over, but it doesn't mean I can't be nice and work out things for the kids.

He simply can't be civil.
Shame, really..... I have remained friends with all my exes, except him.

Really?? International rules makes the Rugby League "World Cup" look like a major global sporting event...

Care factor.... I know what you mean, but league is such a stop start boring game IMO. I know you think differently, but the international rules was at least entertaining to me, nothing special but good to watch.

Not fair I had dibbs on Alaska although would have to get my pilot's license since driving is rather useless. Oh well I guess I'll settle for a Summer house in the South Pole. Not happy with the week long Summer temps this week. Hope you find a way to stay cool.

And yes the International rules games are much more entertaining than rugby.

Afternoon all,

Well it's officially a heatwave in Melbourne this week which started essentially last week. Haven't heard so much thunder in a long time over several days. Now it's just heat. Have the fans going, even started up the new evap cooler which is ok but wouldn't rely on it on days above 30. Still have the air con for the really warm days and nights.

Saw Q&A last night and it felt like the postal survey didn't happen. Still debating the Same-Sex Marriage or SSM thing as it's known now. Seriously, we did this already just get on with it. The No campaign just can't handle the outcome, there is more serious stuff to do. A twist on the old joke..."A lesbian, an Irishman and an Aussie walk into a cake shop"..."she's a dual citizen". The tinkers, tailors and candlestick makers must be wondering why only bakers are involved.

So the Ashes starts this week will be interesting with the new look Aussie side especially with some newbies we haven't seen either before or in a while.

Just trying to stay cool this week. Good weather for washing those things you've put off, things are drying basically the same day.

Another property sold in my street on the weekend. Rather good price considering it's a split land dwelling. Not a fan of the two houses on the same property, right of access can be an issue. However it's good news for house prices in the neighbourhood. There is apparently a housing crisis. Not in my area, seems people have lots of money to demolish current dwellings and rebuild double storey houses.

Hope your week goes well and that you find a cool spot. Having Jan temps in Nov is not normal or fun.

Pot-pond is finished and set up. The goldfish (who hate me!) seem happy and content. The entire thing cost me about $40 - pot was free, and I got the waterplants free from friends. Already had the pump and sundries like stones etc.
I have had a few enquiries about making them for other people, so looking into costs from scratch.

Heatwave in Tassie! It has been over 28 degrees for a week now, and today and tomorrow will be in the 30's
Elderly and small children are being warned to stay indoors and try to keep cool.
I wonder what the Tassie peeps would be like handling the 45-48 degree days I used to endure in the Pilbara???
I moved to Tas to get away from the heat......

My yellow coffee table is a huge success! Everyone loves it :)

Final V8 supercar race this weekend at a new course, Newcastle. It will also be the decider for the championship, and because no-one has actually raced this course before, it will be anyone's to win (or lose!) There are 5 drivers within striking distance of the championship, so it should be an exciting weekend!

As for my kids father...... He visited for 2 days, flew out on Wed last week, and the kids haven't heard a peep from him since. Typical behaviour from him.
My youngest kidley is especially affected, and I have been pushing down the nasty and sarcastic comments I want to say, and instead I have been trying to be nice and saying things like '...maybe he doesn't really understand how to communicate with you kids anymore...after all, you're all grown up since he last saw you 5 years ago.....'
Yep, once in 5 years..... Bastard

Hmmm was dissapointed Whincup got tagged early, I would have rather seen them race for the title.
Having said that, I have no qualms with Scotty winning it. Hoping for a good race tomorrow.

I do not like the Newcastle circuit.
Too short.
Today I watched a race done in single-file

I agree but then todays race was amazing.
Lost some respect for Scotty today, he played barge and charge at any expense.
Was not a good look and reminded me of his mate Moffat.
Still I thought Whincup was no chance today, Scott should have driven the conservative race and the Championship was his. Crap happens.

Hey WQ

Don't tell the locals at Nimbin that you have a pot-pond they might get the wrong idea :D

As for the heat well according to the mad man in the cave, Abbott, global warming is a good thing since more people die from the cold, so nothing to worry about unless you don't have an air con.

The heat is back on in Melbourne. Just spent an hour outside in the garden sweating, not happy.

My nephew has had the opposite issue with his step kids, now that they've grown up they couldn't care less about visiting him and their mum.

Afternoon all,

Well after all the talk about the cricket in the past week, it's back to talking about the heat wave in Melbourne which has broken more records as the longest hot spell since records have been kept. So damn disgusting  Was nice and cool yesterday, now it's back to the heat for the rest of the week then a proper cool change hopefully. Been lots of thunder in the past couple of weeks but not much of the wet stuff which seems to move on quickly so nothing cools down.

Been putting the new evaporative cooler thru it's paces. Just trying to find that right spot to get the most cooling out of it. Doesn't handle humidity too well nor high temps so when Summer really hits the big beasty of an air con will get a run. Not looking forward to the Summer at all. The later part of Spring has gone from cold to cool to a heatwave. Like walking from cold storage into an iron smelter.

The shopping centres are busy already, was surprised at how many people were there on the Friday. Thought the working year was still going, then heard that schoolies had started, run far away!

Hope you find a cool spot to hide this week.

Hi there :)

Well, what a finish to the V8's! Most people are going nuts over the penalties handed to McLaughlin, but as there is no way to dispute an in-race penalty, it is what it is. I am just super happy that erebus once again stood on the podium....and Davey Reynolds won the Barry Sheen medal as well! :D

Thank goodness I have aircon! The temps this past week have been stupidly hot!
On a positive note, the warmth has meant all my parsley and nasturtiums have come up really early, and 100% of the seed I put in has germinated.

My pond is absolutely brilliant. Everything has grown well since I put it in, and my fish are happy. Now I just need to get a couple of pleco's to keep the algae down (hot weather is not helping!)

And a note to finish..... Don Burke has just validated each and every complaint against him by using the excuse that he has undiagnosed Aspergers! Way to go to piss off just about every parent ever, Don!!!

Hey WQ,

Didn't follow the race but heard about the unusual race win, but I guess rules is rules.

The only thing growing in the heat are the weeds and that Qld grass I have in the back yard which really needs a hair cut, tough stuff. Had to buy a brush cutter to keep it at bay, now just have to assemble the thing. I asked someone many years ago how to I control it, they said poison it and get rid of it. Didn't want to do that but it does need lots of maintenance otherwise it just takes over and it climbs fences.

I remember a number of years ago someone mentioning that Don Burke was an asshole and hard to get along with, obviously those in the know weren't talking, but eventually people talk when they can't be retaliated against. Apparently there was a high turnover of staff so the question is why didn't the network twig to investigating it. More to come on this for sure.

My take on why the network did nothing....
At the time, the network executives were all men, and none of them wanted to believe that women were seriously damaged by what Burke was doing because they couldn't understand just how disempowering stuff like this is to women....as well as the fact that Burke was bringing in the huge advertising dollars and they sure as hell did not want to upset that!

As for your grass issue.... sometimes you have no choice but to use some form of poison to control grass. Horticulturists call grass the most widespread weed on the planet!

Yep I'm sure the network execs were thinking dollars before anything else and I don't think the boys club has improved much even with all the new stuff about empowering people. The process to report any type of bullying or harassment just doesn't work if management is the issue and the person making the complaint usually gets the worst of the system, seen that first hand.

I liked the grass when I first purchased the house as it stays green all year round and is nice and soft, just didn't realise it has runners that are so aggressive. I just need to make more of an effort and besides who doesn't like a power tool with a nice sharp blade on the end of it. Didn't realise the brush cutter can cut down young trees as well. Might have to purchase one of those lumber jack shirts I even have a hatchet and axe in the garage so I'm all tooled up :D

Afternoon all,

Well only a few more weeks till Christmas which seems to have come up quickly even though we all knew it was coming. Got the car serviced last week and got myself serviced this week. Went to the dentist on Monday and got a good report so walked across the street and spent $55 on chocs then tried to dodge the rain on the way back to the train station.

Well the test in Adelaide is still in the balance. Can the pomes come back? A test match that is going into day 5, seems a rare thing these days. And keeping on the sports theme the Russians are on the banned list again. Wonder if facebook and twitter will bring in doping controls? Then again they couldn't detect all those Russians named Smith so probably not.

Well the heat has gone thank goodness temps are back to normal. Lots of rain but not that bad. Don't get those dopes who complained about the warnings being too severe. I think most people are glad it wasn't as bad as predicted.

Finished off the Christmas cards yesterday whilst watching the cricket. More stuff yet to buy for Christmas. Hope your week goes well.
