... and so it goes ...

Oh noes! You got me edited!

You've managed to convince Laurel that my name-calling is on par with Ishmael's cyberstalking threats. You win!

I wonder if Literotica would be on the hook is they were sued for allowing "excessive name calling". My guess is that they'd beat that rap.

But federal cyberstalking statutes? I suspect that outcome would be a bit murkier, particularly since Ishmael was previously banned (albeit temporarily) less than two years ago for the exact same cyberstalking threats he made last evening.

Perhaps ColonelHogan can enlighten us. He knows legal stuff.

"Edited?"

Laurelle was not issuing editorial commentary. She was telling you to knock it off. You. RobDownSouth as RobDownSouth.

Do you want to misscharacterize the following, as merely being "edited" as well?

So.... basically he is not responsible for his words?

Ironically enough, I am finding your interpretation of how we are to perceive Ish's words subjective.

If I make threats, say I'm going to hire hackers to gain personal information, even name specific members in other posts I would expect to be held accountable.

I don't do those things because a) I'm not that kind of individual and b) I understand the idea of consequences for my behavior.

i said nothing of the sort...
of course, he - like you and i and any other sob here
is responsible for what they post...

that there may be consequences...

that they might be censored - or banned...
or - more r/l
- someone may be so offended - or intrigued
that they might hack together the very basic crumbs that lead to a doorstep...

if i were to say, "i'm gonna find you!"...
by our current rubric, that is a threat

suppose i was to say....
"i know who you are, by the trail you've left and that's the price of free admission"
creepy? perhaps...
a threat? really?
it is all there to be "hacked" - bitcoin-deposited by you

Won't he get banned for practicing law without a license?

Yes. Adults are responsible for what they post. Threatening hacking is not mere words.

You think they are not serious. Others - including myself - obviously disagree.

If you want to make a stance on free speech perhaps it would be best served in a different example.

If you want to make an argument about policing behavior, perhaps it is best applied to something the community can actually police. This is not one of those instances.

I do know one thing from what I've read - people have been bitching about how the GB has changed for ... well forever.

So I leave you with this thought: the more things change, the more they stay the same.

hash was banned for threatening here to contact his web tormentor's wife.
such a threat - while probably never carried out - could be the consequence
for incessant trolling by the tormentor
be there enough crumbs to follow...

the incessant trolling was allowed -was allowed to crowd-source snowball...
once real consequence was suggested, there was a foul?

that it was that irritant, hash.... good riddance....

thin skins and favorites...

Clearly, you experience and remember Lit differently than most.

Which is all good and fine, as all put in and take away what they do.

What everyone (and by everyone I mean the ones whining) forgets is that we are all guests here. Our gracious hosts are not unreasonable in expecting all to behave like adults, and have even clearly posted some guidelines and rules to deal with the stuff they consider rule-worthy. How they choose to enforce these rules is at their discretion.

As guests, we should be appreciative of the boards and what they provide, and respect the few rules clearly there for all to see.

Or you can leave. Nothing is keeping any of us here, and I'm sure you'll be refunded - in full - every $ you paid for your membership here, should you find the place, the owners, or their rules a poor cultural fit.

Ironically, the guests whining the most about how the rules are enforced are usually the same folks who constantly piss in the host's ashtrays, shit on their carpet, and complain about the salmon pâté.

Nothing is preventing any of you from striking out on your own, and starting your own unmoderated, internet bastion of free-speech, free from rules and censorship.

We are guests here, of Laurel and Manu.
Their house, their rules. If you don't like it, there is nothing preventing you from leaving.

Why is that chuckle worthy, hash? Show us your tits!

I don't like salmon pâté.

(And unlike St Peter, I'm not sorry. :D )

Yeah, threatening hacking would seem to me to be a clear violation of the Federal statutes regarding cyberstalking, and as such actionable in a court of law.

But hey, I'm not a lawyer so I'll defer to ColonelHogan on the issue.

Hey! I made a list! :nana: Thank Que!

Is name calling now a bannable offense? You’re all just a bunch of poopy heads!

He's always posted banal shit. He dresses it up in fancy wrapping in a desperate attempt to deflect from how full of shit he is.
