... and North Korea has a right to defend itself. Now they are threatening to shoot down US bombers as they fly close to NK territory.

This was just stated by the NK Foreign Minister as he gave a press conference on his way out of the country.

If Trump follows through with his insane claims, we may see the global community turn on us. Maybe we'll be the ones facing sanctions and blockades this time around.

Trump threatened to pull out of NATO, Trump has pissed off Canada, Trump has pissed off Mexico, Trump has pissed off just about every nation on earth.

Looks like this is why he wants the 80 billion more in defense budget...

It's part of his Americaweak policy.

You can't stand alone, against the rest of the world. I realize that it makes for a good action movie, but that's not how the real world works.

Does anyone really think that a retaliatory strike or even worse a preemptive strike against North Korea will go unnoticed? That there will be no repercussions? Many have the ability to end the planet and it only takes one idiot to cause it.. Or at the least cause major losses of life.

North Korea and Iran: The nuclear result of strategic patience

It is worth reminding ourselves that Wendy Sherman was one of the architects of both the North Korean and the Iranian nuclear deals. The North Korean deal was used as the US template for the negotiations with Tehran over their advanced nuclear program. Both were based on the fallacy of a strategic patience policy of “let’s go easy on them and see what happened in ten years’ time.”

How did the US Intelligence and the Obama Administration allow this dramatic national security failure to occur? This should be required study for leading Strategic and National Security think tanks. The strategic patience policy is a frightening failure. It is nothing more than politically kicking the can down the road to be picked up by a future Administration when it is about to explode in a mushroom cloud.

America is in crisis mode right now. They are scrambling to come up with a solution to the North Korean nuclear threat, but there appears to be no good solution in sight, particularly when you are dealing with unpredictable rogue regimes. Conflict seems inevitable.

This is the consequence of kicking that can down the road. Tomorrow, they will wake up to the same crisis when Iran takes the wraps off their project and are ready for a nuclear breakout.

Obama administration knew about North Korea's miniaturized nukes

Tuesday's bombshell Washington Post story that the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has determined North Korea is capable of constructing miniaturized nuclear weapons that could be used as warheads for missiles – possibly ICBMs – left out a crucial fact: DIA actually concluded this in 2013. The Post also failed to mention that the Obama administration tried to downplay and discredit this report at the time.

During an April 11, 2013, House Armed Services Committee hearing, Congressman Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., inadvertently revealed several unclassified sentences from a DIA report that said DIA had determined with “moderate confidence” that North Korea has the capability to make a nuclear weapon small enough to be launched with a ballistic missile.

The Director of National Intelligence and Obama officials subsequently tried to dismiss Lamborn’s disclosure by claiming the DIA assessment was an outlier that did not reflect the views of the rest of the U.S. Intelligence Community.

It was clear what Obama officials were doing in 2013. The DIA report represented inconvenient facts that threatened President Obama’s North Korea “strategic patience” policy -- a policy to do nothing about North Korea and kick this problem down the road to the next president. Obama officials tried to downplay the DIA assessment to prevent it from being used to force the president to employ a more assertive North Korea policy.
