Lucy! Good day to you too, and thank you  Going fine so far, not too many miles (kilometres ;)) today, nice warm-up for day one. Although my lady parts are still, er, 'glowing', shall we say *smirks*

Today's "how things work in The Netherlands" lesson: if you want the cool cycle crossing lights to stop the traffic for you, you have to actually press the button, rather than just standing there like a lemon :D

*laughing softly* I thought I was the only one who had imitated to lonely lemon!!! :D:rose::rose:

Take your time, but be safe. And take pictures ;)

It feels very safe cycling here - the Netherlands is very well set up for cyclists with separate cycle paths everywhere, and a presumption that, in the rare places where cyclists and traffic do interact, that the onus is on the traffic to give priority to the bikes. That sounds odd, but there are sooooo many cyclists, it makes sense some how. They're not cycling for pleasure or exercise, for the most part, they're just getting from A to B.

Pictures. Hmmm. :D I can offer a snap of my sexy new shoes:

Clogs, yep. Actual clogs. I didn't buy them, they were just for trying on. Very uncomfortable, unsurprisingly :)

Hello Numi :)

How was the wedding? :rose:

It was lovely, although exhaustingly long! Wonderful to see the couple making their commitment to each other. And I managed not to stand up/sit down/laugh/cry in any of the wrong places, I didn't spill anything on my frock, and I managed to avoid the dancing completely *shudder*. So... all good!

Regrettably most of the roadways here's in the States aren't bike friendly. Or more correctly the drivers aren't very bike aware. So even the most experienced of riders sometimes have unpleasant bike vs. motor vehicle collisions.

Wooden clogs are interesting, in some places they're called sabots and they qualify as safety shoes in some European factories. I do know people who wear them that say if they're properly fitted they're very comfortable. But I believe I'd rather view a pair of them on your lovely feet and legs.

What!?! No Numi dancing? :(:(:(

That's pretty much what it's like in the U.K., too. :( I think it improved some after we hosted the start of the Tour de France in 2014, but we have a long way to go!

A slight menace here in the Netherlands: people texting while they cycle along not looking where they're going!

Yes! Isn't that where the word 'sabotage' comes from? Chucking your wooden shoe in a machine to break it? Having tried them, I can't believe they can be comfortable for walking, however well they're fitted, because feet flex and bend when you walk. And wooden shoes, well, they ... don't! :D

I have much sexier shoes than that at home, anyway... ;)
