North Korea fired at least one ballistic missile early Tuesday that soared over the East China Sea and Japan, the South Korean military said on Tuesday.

It was the second time in four days that the North Korean authorities, defying an escalation in international sanctions and warnings from President Trump, had launched a missile. Three missiles were launched on Saturday.

The missile fired on Tuesday took off from near Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, and flew to the east, according to the South Korean military, which added that officials were analyzing the data to determine what type of missile was launched.

The Japanese government sent a text alert to citizens about the launch and advised them to take protective cover.

North Korea in the last ten days has also threatened Australia and the UK because they are allies of the US.

So, he's only defying Trump and not the UN?

He's not defying Clinton dithered whom he signed an agreement with?

I know Trump is currently the center of your attention, but for Lil' Kim it is the US and the UN with its new sanctions.

Did I say only? Good golly.

He's dithering Clinton, fine. What do you propose she does about it now?

NK knows full well what would happen if one of their missiles accidentally on purpose landed on the soil of one of our allies. Kim Jong Buttfuck may be crazy but he isn't stupid. I think.

Look at you miles, you're all feisty and sporting a tough guy attitude. Did you're wife give you some money for vacuuming or something?

Tromp SO hates to be defied but he'd better get used to it.
Yes, Donald, get used to it -- before doing anything rash.

As for dropping monstrous creatures on DPRK --
C'mon now. Starving Koreans would eat them. Raw.
Chupacabra heart stuffed with weeds & seeds is great!

Anyway, it's a tight game of nuclear chicken: bluffing, florid ranting.
Kim says he'll do something awful but doesn't, is being provocative.
Tromp pledges to do something awful but doesn't, shows weakness.

Kim ain't suicidal. He'll not QUITE actively provoke a nuclear response.
Tromp ain't subtle. He'll not QUITE comprehend when he's going too far.
Kim is good at teasing. Tromp doesn't like being teased. This could go bad.

When you see the mushroom clouds rising, assume the posture:
Put your head between your legs and kiss your sweet ass goodbye.

It is almost harvest time in North Korea. The harvest will be poor based on most assessments. People will starve without food aid.

North Korea is entirely consistent, they make threats, lots of threats and eventually the appeasers will pick up the tab with food aid etc. South Korea has already elected an appeasing government.

China has signed up for sanctions but will they apply them - doubtful.

Perhaps the solution will be to enable, indirectly, enough food aid so that Kim and his military can make a fortune on selling it to the plebs, but not enough to actually feed the starving masses. That is pretty much what has happened with their previous famines.

Trump should do nothing, Bannon was right, there is no military solution, though assassination a la Allende might be an option - though a risky one.

NK has offered several times over a period of many years to halt its nuclear program if the US will stop conducting massive military maneuvers simulating attacking NK during harvest season. The US has quite naturally responded to this provocation with more maneuvers and bigger sanctions, and threats to attack them if they don't stop acting like they are afraid we will attack them. What do those crazy motherfuckers expect?

The latest missiles were fired OVER Japan, which is a severe provocation, bordering on an act of war. If one of them had failed and fallen short, what would have happened?

i think it would still border on an act of war, because it's not clear if NK missles are suffering poor design or if they're being aborted mid flight.

I mean honestly only U.S. intelligence agencies know for sure.

As this model has worked before. Kim can rightfully expect it to work again, given rational players. That's the rub. Is Tromp rational enough to respond to a bluff without going over the edge? What is needed to keep his hand away from the nuclear button?

IIRC Allende wasn't surrounded by layers of security. Shooting him (as he defended with a machine pistol) was easy. The results sort of sucked for Chileans, but that's another story. Can you envisage Tromp firing at the speznaz commandos coming for him?

USA planners have undoubtedly devised dozens of schemes to off Kim. [/me omits the more colorful plots.] But with him gone, won't some asshole general take over? Remember, power abhors a vacuum. When one tyrant goes, another arrives.

Perhaps Australia should send millions of rabbits and kangaroos to feed the Koreans. The kangaroos might kick the shit out of little Kim.

Spot on. It's worked every time in the past.

When Clinton signed the "peace in our time agreement" with the NORKS a lot of food was part of the deal. I was in Japan just after the agreement and the Japanese were furious. The food would go in to the N. Korean ports and little Kim's daddy was moving it over to vessels flagged with flags of convenience and selling it on the world market to finance his military. The food came in but the people still starved.

Little Kim isn't defying Trump, he's engaged in global extortion just like his daddy and his daddy before him. It's their MO, their model for 'diplomacy.' Trump is trying to force China to act and act forcefully. The last thing China wants is a nuclear Japan and little Kim is pushing that nation closer and closer to becoming a nuclear power. From the time the Japanese make the decision to do so they're but 6 mos away from joining the nuclear club.
