This is what happens when you have for profit prisons.

The nation’s second-largest private prison corporation is holding New Mexico politicians hostage by threatening to close unless the state or federal authorities find 300 more prisoners to be warehoused there, according to local news reports.

The paper said that county officials issued a statement citing the threatened closure and emphasized that every virtually every politician in the region, from county officials to state officials to congressmen, were scurrying to save jobs—as opposed to shutting a privatized prison by an operator that has been sued many times for sexual harassment, sexual assault, deaths, use of force, physical assaults, medical care, injuries and civil rights violations.

Let's see… how many Trump campaigners colluded with Russia?

Ha! They'll get it filled in no time.
Russiagate is federal. Those (private) prisons collect state inmates AFAIK. Thus more state and local prosecutors must go after TeamTromp. Hey, private prison owners might even bribe D.A.s for more convictions. USA: the best justice money can buy.

Don Jr.'s email and the never-ending lies around that meeting establish it for me.

If there was "nothing" to it, Grand Juries would not be getting set up.

The Investigation is ongoing and progressing. It's been neither proven in a court of law nor dismissed.

But of course you know better than Robert Mueller.

So far, none that we know of. There may have been some, but this has not been established.

Did you know that the USA has more prisoners than any other country and the second-highest percentage of its population imprisoned? And the vast majority of them are non-violent offenders.

So much for both 'land of the free' and 'home of the brave' I guess.

AFAIK you didn't read the article. ;)

So far being the key words there, but I agree with the flower cat.

Yeah, the war on drugs and the boom in privatized prisons took place at the same time.

Apparently, you agree with me that nothing has been established or proven.

Trump Jr. is a private citizen and was one in 2016. He has every right to speak to a lawyer, Russian or not.

You seem to consider suspicion to be proof of guilt. I don't.

I have no particular knowledge of the case. I don't even know if there is a case. If Robert Mueller knows anything, he is keeping it to himself.

Do you ever tire of this mantra?

A private citizen may not violate FEC laws.

The "nothing to see here" mantra. Although the "he's a private citizen" bit was new. I don't think anyone is using that line if bs as a defense.

It's more than suspicion.

What mantra is that? Innocent until proven guilty?

What law is Trump Jr. accused of having violated?

Under Section 30121 of Title 52 of the US Code, it is a crime for a foreign national, directly or indirectly, to make a contribution or donation of money or "other thing of value" in connection with a federal election. It also is illegal for a person to solicit, accept, or receive such a contribution or donation.
Key to determining if a violation of the election laws potentially may have occurred is whether providing negative information to discredit an opposition candidate in connection with a political campaign (opposition research) could constitute a "thing of value" under the election laws.
Two Federal Election Commission advisory opinions would appear to support the view that opposition research is a thing of value. In Opinion 2007-22, the FEC advised that the proposed donation of certain printed materials, used in previous Canadian campaigns, without charge to a US congressional campaign would constitute a contribution and, as such, would be prohibited, particularly in light of the broad scope of the prohibition on contributions from foreign nationals. In Opinion 1990-12, the FEC advised that the proposed donation of poll data or analysis to a candidate, which was commissioned by another candidate, would constitute an in-kind contribution.
While there are a number of allegations that members of the Trump campaign may have colluded (or conspired) with the Russians, as of yet, they have not been proven. A particular focus, however, has been on the June 9, 2016, meeting at Trump Tower, which Donald Trump Jr., apparently organized after he was advised that a group of Russians (or persons acting on their behalf) wished to provide to the Trump campaign opposition research on Hilary Clinton.

Nothing has been proven because there have been no charges and no trial yet. It CAN'T be legally established until then. We're in agreement only insofar as there has been no legal proceeding yet.

He was representing the Trump campaign, not just a private citizen, and he brought along other official, paid representatives from the Trump CAMPAIGN, with the promise of getting dirt about Hillary Clinton from a Russian lawyer who said it was on behalf of the Russian gov't's support of candidate Trump.

In my mind, that clearly, unequivocally establishes an intent to collude with a foreign power. The e-mail is the "proof."

But I'm not a lawyer and I'm not Mueller. It's my opinion alone.

Box's nonsense is usually best ignored, because he sticks to his nonsense regardless.
