TSCLT3.0: A Beast Unlike Any Known To Man . . .

That's one thing that I am worried about, once we become the local grocery store, he's never going to stop shopping. The coop is like Fort Knox, but eventually even it can be cracked.
:(
I don't want to have to purchase a large trap, but that might be the only answer. Then again, the nearby retired cop who has a German Shepherd might get pissed if I trap his dog. I am constantly running it off with the .22...

Better to live trap it then accidentally kill it. My grandmother used to have 300+ chickens in the summer and go down to about 40 in the winter. We collected the eggs but they were mostly for meat. We were always dealing with coyotes, wild dogs and racoons. But the 25 dollar bounty on them had a lot of hunters taking their vacation during the 6 week hunting season and making a second income which slowed their numbers down.

Is it possible that the neighbours german shepherd is also hunting them? It happens here sometimes (often dumped dogs) and often triple S is the only solution. Shoot, Shovel and Shhhhh.

The neighbor's dog? No. After the first three or four volleys, he's pretty much steered clear of our place.

Remember, I actually chased down the coyote to save a chicken, and he wasn't much impressed by me or the dogs. It wasn't until I got within striking distance that he turned tail and sauntered off.

Who needs bounties? Prime western coyote pelts went for $80 avg./pelt this year. Western bobcat went for $500 avg.

Seriously?

Appparently, I avoided running over $400 worth of coyote pelts this morning.

Who buys them?

Why?

You probably didn't avoid $400, the operative word is "Prime." Sustained low temps, and the best harvest times for the mountains around here are Jan.-Mar. Further north the season lasts longer.

Who buys them? Furriers the world over. In spite of the snowflakes, PETA, and other PC hand wringers, there is still a significant demand for good pelts.

You get to keep the pelts, you only have to turn in the skulls (heads if you prefer) to collect the bounty.
And the furriers do pay well for the pelts but I don't know much about how wild pelts are dealt with in that industry. We have a lot of painted mink farms here though, and while animal rights activists may disagree, I know they are humanely dispatched, the meat is sold for animal food, the breeders are treated better than most people, the waste is sold for compost, and it employs a lot of locals. The furs go to auction after harvesting.
Fur farming in Canada is very regulated, and it's one of the only industries with nearly zero waste. If the activists really wanted to make a difference they would educate about buying only US or Canada based furs because of the strict regulations in most places here vs the cheaper Chinese coats which are full of horror stories.

Fence is done and at 20% of what I budgeted so my yard and account both look better. In a few days I'll power wash it and coat it with weather sealant and have a bit more summer time to myself. I'll never understand why the last tenants took the gates off and laid them on the ground to rot but at least they are replaced now.

The guys took longer than hoped for at the shop so nothing got moved, the delivery guy was stuck behind an accident. Thankfully there were no fatalities.

Yeah, that kinda gives me a combination of a back-ache and over-stimulation which might result in a seizure.

There's a rumor afoot at work that I'm to be transferred back up to the close-by job. It seems that that super is getting declared as surplus. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy, really. It seems that the subs complain bitterly about him to anyone who will listen. Hell, I got a call from the real estate guy week before last to ask me something so he wouldn't have to talk to Asshat.

Fuck, he should have the gig done in 30-45 days. Let him finish, and then send him down the pike. Some people's kids, you know?

So it's off to bed shortly.

I have a sort of pencil, it's tip is round rubber, that I now use to type on my phone. It's so much better than trying to type with these big hands, it's almost impossible to hit just one of the keys on that tiny keyboard.

Yeah, the Queen talks to her phone, but I'm just a little too dedicated to typing and not letting the world know everything I'm doing.

These are for guitars but I use them to type. I spend a lot of time on a keyboard and they make things easier for me. We also use the Dragon Speak program, it takes a little to set-up but it is a good program.

Fence is being power washed and sealed today, and things will be getting put back in the basement. Almost back to normal.

I watched the news this morning and my condensed version is that the government in both our countries and England are all stupid and bad at math.

It cracks me up to see people with those little ear phones...

When they turn just right it looks like they're talking to themselves and if they're one of those hand-talker types they look positively crazy.

Happy Tuesday!!!

It'll be a bit cooler today. Perhaps Allah's influence is waning.

Perhaps we'll get something else off our plates today.

Meanwhile, there is coffee, so that'll do for the moment.

Morning folks. I'm off today. Just a few odds and ends. I have an oil change appointment at 7:30. I was going to take some time today and resurface my deck but the clouds opened up unexpectedly and drenched it. So I'm going to wait a couple days until the sun bakes it dry again. The best-laid plans are always at the mercy of Mother Nature it seems.

*chuckle*

Every time I score, ThrobDownSouth runs to this thread to take a dump.

How does it feel to be in the bottom two when it comes to Hall of Fame voting Throb???

Maybe if you start reviving your attacks on me buying my rent-a-gook in order to to have underage sex with her, you might get more votes...
