It is a good thing Yorkies don't weigh like fifty pounds or more.

Those little shitheads can be badass!:)

But the little fuckers can be charming.

our pup is about 18 weeks old now, and when he stands on his back legs his front paws can rest on my chest without straining. he's gonna be a tallish dog and has a long back.

yesterday we bought him a kid's wading pool where the heat is outrageous this week :D

What kind of dog is it and what are you going to feed it?

Are you just going to open the door and let him graze?

not entirely sure, since i wasn't about when he was bought - but his dad's a pyrenean mountain dog and his mother (i'm told) looked like a greyhound cross! He looks kinda more like a labrador than anything, with a short, pale coat.

he eats a mix of puppy kibble, tinned dog food, and table scraps, though he's had fresh fish from the pond and thought a decomposing opossum a delightful treat  no, we didn't give him that last one, he found it himself.

I wasn't at home for a few days. The doors all got left open and one of my dogs has learned the wonder of the ever giving trash can; a world of excitement and flavour. She was throwing herself against the now closed door in frustration as I stepped out fifteen minutes ago.

oh dear :D

i'd love to throw all the doors open here but there are indoors only cats and so that's not an option

Over the last 25 years I've had only two dogs, both Blue Heelers. Smart dogs. To damned smart for their own good sometimes. I taught my first one, CB (short for Can't be a dog 'cause he's to damned ugly) to close the door. I'd give him the command "Close" and he'd run over to the open door and jump against it until it slammed shut. I'd give him a treat each time. I thought that was a pretty cool trick until one day the wife went shopping and returned with bags in both hands. CB was outside when she returned and greeted her at the door to follow her into the house. She opened the door and carried the first load in, put the bags on the floor and her keys on the kitchen counter. When she returned to get the other bags CB dashed in the open door and slammed it shut, then sat looking alternately at her through the door window and the canister of treats sitting on a shelf. Unfortunately the door lock was still engaged. She had to call her mom who lives fairly close and has a spare key to our house to let her in. A really good way to get yourself in trouble by dog proxy.

Fire dog is being spayed on Monday. The more people say to me ' each on her puppies would be worth x the more I am determined to do it. THAT is not why we got her. She is not a piggy bank. She is a pet. And a pest. And frankly, I don't think she is good enough to breed from. Makes me cross that people look at her and see money.

I don't see money, I see an adorable face. It probably is a great idea to get her spayed and will improve her being a pest though that's hard to imagine her being anything but friendly. I laughed at your post about her being frustrated being shut in the other day. Poor girl wants what she wants. On Another note, your growing season is almost over? Mostly successful?

good for you, and she should be more content.

i think we should have Paddy neutered so he doesn't start to wander when he scents a bitch in heat... him and roads seem a recipe for disaster, and i don't believe breeding from him is on the cards in the future either. H is reluctant, though.
