I am a bit sleep but I can't go to bed yet, else I'll be up at 4am.

Do you drink a lot of coffee?

I'm usually up a bit before 6am regardless if it's a workday or not. I will sleep in to 6:30am to as late as 7am if I am kept up very late. But I just can't sleep late. Once it's light out, I'm up. It's the same reason I'm a terrible napper.

Today was a good day, until, after the last jobsite, we were driving home and I saw the motorcyclist on the road. He was face down, not moving. It had just happened and pissed me off my boss would not stop because it freaks him out. I am trained to help. It's in my nature to assist. I wanted him to stop. I can't get the image out of my head.

There were people gathered, not sure if the car or truck hit him, but they were on the phone. The scene was that fresh. I knew my boss wouldn't stop no matter what I said. I didn't realize how much this would affect me. I think it may be time to start volunteering again.

I am glad there were people there and help was being notified. That is the most important thing. I can understand you wanting to stop and help. Maybe it is a sign indeed. There are many ways to volunteer and help out. Thankfully this fellow had people on sight.

What would you like to do as a volunteer?

I have jumped in and helped on fresh scenes. It's not something that I live for but I can keep a clear head and do what needs to be done. I've been lucky enough to never have to change modes from rescue and assistance to that of recovery. When you jump into a rescue, remember that your first job is to not be another statistic.

Well said and timely. I just had a similar experience.

The fucking phone company apparently expects me to pay for Robocalls and expects me to pay MORE money to buy Caller ID.

How many ways are there to say, "Ain't gonna fucking happen." They'll lose this customer first.
