This may be the greatest example of ingratitude in world history.
And one of the most ill-advised. Comey still has connections and inside dope. He is not a man you want holding a grudge.

It's obviously an attempt to short-circuit the Russia investigation and get a loyalist in that job.
Which tells you something about the mentality of this White House: the person more responsible than anyone else for Orange Julius being president was still too "independent" for this crowd.

Nothing says "restores public trust" like firing the FBI Director when the FBI is investigating your presidential campaign.
And yeah, I know the stated rationale is the way Comey handled the Clinton business. But that's not the real rationale; if it were, Comey would have been shitcanned on January 20.
And FFS, this is the same Donald Trump who urged the Russians to hack his opponent. Does anybody really believe he cares that Comey did something unprofessional to fuck with Hillary?
