Senior Moments

Problem is, it doesn't always fall on the deserving...

When I let people know I was retiring, they'd all say, "You won't have to work anymore." I'd always tell them, "I stopped working a long time ago."....

How does that saying go? If you're doing what you love, it's not work.

When I was being particularly annoying to my 8th graders, I'd smile and say, "And they pay me to have fun." It really pissed them off because they wanted to laugh, but laughing would only serve to rev me up.

I retired and I am doing WHAT I LOVE!

I hope all are doing well and all the aches and pain are small and all are healthy and all are happy!

Thanks, yes I'm well. Aches and pains aren't bad. If you feel them, you're alive and like the guy whose name I can't remember said.....

As long as you're alive, there's more right with you than wrong with you!

My favorite "Wizard of Id" cartoon was when the chancellor broght a peasant before the king introducing him by saying "This man has been working in the field since he was 14 and is now 95". The king said, "Isn't it about time you let others do the work ?". The peasant answered, "How do you think I got to 95 ?".

They should know better...

now I understand what my dad meant when he said, "You'll understand someday," lol.

Every once in a while, when I get to feeling sorry for myself, I think my golden years are more like silver. Tarnished. I mope around the house, eat chocolate, gripe, moan, whine, think sour thoughts; and then I remember. Silver can be polished, if I care to do the work.

It's My silver... I can polish it as fast as I want!!

On rare occasion, TOW.. I fall into the "single and aging alone" pit.
realize I've let my edges tarnish.. as far as the "gripe, moan, whine" crap?
Nobody wants to hear it... not even if I get it all short, to the point and in a timely manner!
My oldest daughter will ask, with fatherly reverence..
"Want me to call you a "Waaaammbulance, Pop?"

Love this. Hugs.
