...and I'm chronicling my experience here. Hopefully it doesn't end an utter failure. Pics aplenty, but probably none in the nude. Well, maybe.

It's an experimental cheesecake night. I've never done anything like this one before, so sit back, have fun, and maybe a glass of wine as I make you all drool. Just not in the cake, please.

Oh I love cheesecake.

Homemade with crushed biscuits and melted butter. Fresh fruit. Cream on top with Flake Mmm.

If you're usin sour cream on top, which is not that good anyway, but if you are, watch the time you broil. It burns quick.

I'm doing a shortbread crust, as per fata and Thor's recommendation. :) And a mascaropne whipped cream for the top. Strawberry and mint for anyone who would like to add I to their slice. I'm so excited.

I've never done sour cream on top - I use it inside the cheesecake itself; the way my mom taught me.

maybe posting your step by step process, and with pictures, will help deter some of us from going out and getting one like right away.

Posting them with sexy lingerie? Will certainly keep us in.

Shortbread? Never tried that. But any sort of vanilla butter biscuit will work.

Biscuits and butter for the base. Evaporated milk, sugar, cream cheese, aeroplane strawberry jelly and fresh strawberries. Top with whipped cream, more strawberries and flake.

Simple, but the best cheesecake I've ever had.

The BEST is indeed a very simple one. I gotta look for that recipe. It was the eggs white only. Made it so light and good.

But my crust was graham crackers and butter. crumbles :)

Okay, so the shortbread is in the base of the spring form pan. I'm going to bake it until it crisps a bit. I just tossed about two cups of shortbread crumbs with some butter until it was wet enough to spread (also works on the ladies).

Tip of the day: spread with a fork, go back and smooth with the back of a spoon. It just works. Magical like.

Hopefully, by the end, a recipe will have been cobbled together, but, since I'm experimenting, I don't have one fully formed as of yet.

What's this flake you speak of...corn flakes, coconut flake?

I have two pounds of strawberries I've washed and dried, ready to cut for macerating. I'm going to toss in julienned mint leaves until it looks good, and, yes, that is as specific as I'll probably get. I'm going to macerate these in some sugar, because, alas, it's only strawberry season in Cali and they aren't that wonderful.

I made cheesecake yesterday, to stop the whining daughter from annoying me because I haven't made one in like for-ever!
And because neither of us eat chocolate. So easter would have been boring.
Mine is way simple - cream cheese, condensed milk, lemon and vanilla for the filling, crushed plain biscuits with butter for the base, and fresh fruit to top.

There is nothing simple about that cheesecake.

Yoss, looks like a good start!

Good for you for making the fruit and mint a per person add on. I'm personally a fan of cheesecake flavored cheesecake.

I'm also curious.

God, the shortbread baking shells like pure heaven.

My keeping the topping separate is selfish. I also just enjoy regular cheesecake.
