Literotica Legends Day 17 March

As far as 'legends' go, I've only heard of three of the authors listed, but haven't read anything from any of them.
Should that be rectified? I mean, did I miss something; are these people gods/goddesses of Literotica, or is this a fairly random list of people who just haven't posted in a while?

I've seen the names of about six on the list.

It looks like one of those "Cabin" style lists or just one persons personal preferences.

Blackrandl1958 edits for people or so I hear.

DFWBeast, laptopwriter, and Saxon_Hart post here in the AH ever so often.

Tx Tall Tales got pissed off during a contest a while back and hasn't been around so...

I'm not sure where the legend part comes in.

I think it's a kicky idea. I wonder if they are going to put it into an e-book for the marketplace.

Only pertains to LW , or at least that's the only hub that post was in . And most of those authors are "legends" there .
Must be popular , right now the Lit announcement has a 4.95 score and leads the Hall of Fame in that category ! Lol

That says more about LW than anything.

I don't know if they are legends, but unless you regularly read LW, you are unlikely to have heard of many of them. Most of them on that list either write predominantly for LW or exclusively. But there are MANY LW writers who for various reasons are not on that list. They were apparently invited, but didn't respond. Some have died so they're excused.

The list is an excellent refutation of the occasional charges on AH that LW is some sort of vast wasteland or snake pit. Every time a regular Lit author tries to phone some crap in to LW and gets burned, they get pissy and post about it here on AH.

No, not really. Sort of a sweeping generalization that.

So then, if this was by invitation to well respected authors in one category, would you (or someone else) know if there are plans to do this kind of a thing for every category? Or is it strictly to give LW some credence again?

My impression is that this has been initiated by someone who edits a lot of LW, not by the Web site.

This just says clique to me. The only person in that list I would consider a 'legend' would be Tx Tall Tales who has had a lot of success here including being the number two all time author and a lot of hall of fame stories.

The rest? No offense intended to any of them, but I don't see anything that makes them legends.

I agree that this sounds like a self proclaimed 'super group' that has some off lit ties.

I'd be interested to see it done by category just to get a laugh out of how somehow pilot would be left out of GM and I would be left out of incest. Us being trolls and all.

Tefler. I think anything involving a legend should include Tefler. Doesn't matter that Tefler only has a couple of stories and in a single category. :D

Regardless of who collects the tales, it would be cool to see this done across the categories, instead of in just one.

Based on his 2016 nominations he would have to be a legend wouldn't he? At least, a legend for something.

Certainly one who should be embarrassed--but I'm sure isn't, seeing some sort of validation in mockery.

Oh that looks like an LW list but why not. Love to see something like that for every category here.

The list is an excellent refutation of the occasional charges on AH that LW is some sort of vast wasteland or snake pit. Every time a regular Lit author tries to phone some crap in to LW and gets burned, they get pissy and post about it here on AH.

And yeah, I get some rude comments from that anonymouse guy on my half dozen LW stories but honestly, they're all in the 4.7*'s so they really, it's just the odd troll. Most readers there are great. I get a lot of my best feedback from that category.

I think this is interesting for a number of reasons.

1) this is ONE person's decision of "who is a legend or not". Apparently the concept and reach out was organized by Blackrandl1958 - whoever that is - (I've read almost everything on LW, and never actually come across this individual), so what we are getting here is who Blackrandl1958 thinks are legends. Interestingly, he/she has included themselves in the list. OK then.

2) I wonder, do the authors concerned really want to all be putting out stories on the same day? It's hard enough to stand out on LW to begin with, let alone hitting it on the same day as some of the heaviest hitters out there. I like the fact that my stuff comes out pretty much when almost no one of weight posts (apart from Vandemonium, who appears to be prolific to the point of using both hands and both feet to type on different keyboards at the same time).

and

3) Any list that doesn't include Daniel Q Steele isn't worth the disk space it takes up. I mean, seriously? Come on.

Yeah, no one asked me either, but I'm an acquired taste:), and I post somewhat regularly. Plus, for reason 2, I'm not sure I would have done it anyway.

This is what's at the bottom of the "Literotica" profile page:

"Some words from Literotica:
Please contact us with any questions you may have. Thanks! - Laurel & Manu"

Looks odd that it's only in LW, rather than in the Lit main pages, but who knows. Some kind of strange Alt, maybe?

No, not really. Sort of a sweeping generalization that.

Yes, a bit hyperbolic, but at least anecdotally supported by the innumerable posts to AH. New authors have been actively discouraged from posting on LW telling them what a snake pit/cesspool/etc. it is. And it's often by established authors here, probably the most prolific being nameless, but a recent poster to this thread.

I sort of think "all" can't be supported--from my experience alone. I have seven stories in LW and I don't remember ever having complained on the AH about the treatment of them.

For answers, all you have to do is read the actual post in LW. It's all explained there and the source of what little information I provided.

It is supported by Laurel and Manu, but the idea and legwork came from
Blackrandl1958, a fairly new writer for LW.

It was only posted to LW for the simple and obvious reason, it is honoring "legends" from LW. How could that not be clear to anyone who posts on an author's forum?

I would like to see that example followed in other categories, but apparently, while everyone was bitching about LW and the Literotica management never doing anything new, Blackrandl1958 and the Lit management went ahead and fucking did something new.

It is sort of fun that you'd put yourself on the legend list having posted only three stories ever (and none of those being LW category stories). :D

I see that you can get a payoff, though. When you put someone on your list, they go and nominate you as the best volunteer editor for 2016. (I trust Blackrand1958) actually is a registered volunteer editor, which is a requirement to qualify for that award. Last year it was awarded to someone who wasn't a volunteer editor for that year. :D
