I sort of think "all" can't be supported--from my experience alone. I have seven stories in LW and I don't remember ever having complained on the AH about the treatment of them.

I'll rephrase that. Often new writers post about having a bad experience with voting and comments on LW. Several established writers who shall remain nameless (cough**LC-somethingorother**cough) tell the new writer what a snake pit/cesspool LW is. Frequently, these same established writers are not LW authors, nor very likely to be LW READERS, so they aren't in any position to be saying anything one way or the other about LW. At least one (cough**cough) has 135 stories posted, but only 3 are LW. So, it probably isn't hyperpole to suggest they almost never actually read LW stories and would not recognize any of the authors on Blackrandl1958's list.

Maybe because, although Blackrand1958 is on the list, Blackrand1958 doesn't have any LW stories post. At all.

I do think the concept is kicky. I won't have heartburn over it because I don't read LW stories (although, as I've noted to you elsewhere, I've written them--even have a Green E on one I have posted here--something only 38 out of 27,626 stories in LW have. Hey, that sort of sounds like legend material. )

This just says clique to me. The only person in that list I would consider a 'legend' would be Tx Tall Tales who has had a lot of success here including being the number two all time author and a lot of hall of fame stories.

The rest? No offense intended to any of them, but I don't see anything that makes them legends.

I agree that this sounds like a self proclaimed 'super group' that has some off lit ties.

Literotica 'Legends' Day

As someone who was invited to contribute, I thought I'd clear up some misconceptions about the event and perhaps clarify its purpose.

I was a late invitation, so all I can report is what I was told and how I came to be involved.

Blackrandl1958 is a writer of mostly LW stories. Pretty good, actually, but she pulled all of hers except her collaboration stories when she got an agent. Now she mostly edits for many of the writers. When she first got involved in writing here, she had some very good mentors. Very well known, very popular LW mentors.

She got it in her head she'd like to see some of the old LW writers who hadn't contributed in a while return to the fold. Or at the minimum, contribute something new. Not having been around that long, she spoke to her friends. They suggested names. One of those names was mine, even though LW only makes up about 15% of my work.

She wrote to me and told me of her idea: one day to get a lot of the missing, popular LW writers to contribute a story. It only took a few emails for her to convince me to participate.

I had stopped contributing to Lit about a year ago as I pursued other interests. Even that last story had been mostly written years earlier and only completed for the contest. I enjoy writing but I need to take a break every now and then. Sometimes life gets in the way, and my life has been a hectic roller-coaster for the last few years. Her invitation came at a good time, and I thought it might be fun to submit something.

As I understand it, she contacted a lot of authors. Authors who were popular in the LW category. The LW category readers and writers tend to be exclusionary and focused on their niche of the world. Of course, to them, any LW legend must be a Literotica legend. Even if not a single LW centric (50% +) writer is in the top 25 Lit writers. JustPlainBob would be the most favorited LW author at around #40 and he declined an invitation to participate.

Many of the LW legends have passed away. Several more declined. Numerous never responded. That's why some of the most popular LW names, like DanielQSteele, Rehnquist, Longhorn_07, JPB, and others are not represented. I don't know, but I believe that some others weren't included because their particular kink isn't popular with those who made the list. MattMoreau comes to mind.

I'll give credit to Blackrandl1958, pulling together something like this couldn't be easy. Several of the authors haven't contributed in a long time. Most of the writers who are participating are very well known in the LW category and virtually unknown outside of it.

As far as the LW category goes, most of the names on the list would be considered category 'legends'. It's a pretty good representative group even if there are many notable absences. If you don't know them, it's because you don't read that much in the category.

I think it would be very interesting to see a similar effort made in other categories. Many wouldn't work and few have the vocal following that LW does, but a 'legends of incest/taboo' would get a HUGE amount of attention. I imagine several of the smaller categories would have interested readers.

So that's what I know about the Literotica Legends day. It's actually a Literotica Loving Wives Legends Day, it was conceived and brought about by one particular author/editor, with input from some of the more popular long-time LW writers. It's sanctioned and supported by Laurel who is making sure that all the stories get posted the same day. Many were invited but less than half responded and agreed to participate.

I had no involvement or input other than submitting a story in a few days for the event. I will be looking forward to reading the stories. Especially those by AngiqueSophie, HardDaysKnight, Ohio, Oshaw, K.K., qhml1, and the long lost king of the LW flash story, Papatoad.

And it would be very hard for anyone to say they've read any of Blackrandl1958's LW stories, because Blackrandl1958 (despite being on Blackrandl1958's Legends list) doesn't have any LW stories posted at Lit. (Isn't this fun?)

I'd be interested to see it done by category just to get a laugh out of how somehow pilot would be left out of GM and I would be left out of incest. Us being trolls and all.

Did you read the announcement in LW? Obviously, not. It states clearly that this was by invitation. So if you are invited to post as an Incest legend, and you don't, you would not be listed in a post as an author who promises to post a new incest story on the agreed upon date. That's all in the post, but then you don't read LW so your ignorance is earned.

I've only been here about a year and a half. I, personally, had not seen something like this done before, and I did not know something like this could be done here. Your earlier post read like you maybe had some kind of communication with Blackrandl1958 that I did not have, or that perhaps you had more information to provide. So I asked some simple questions to better understand the situation as a whole hoping to be educated by some of the more experienced here.

A snarky reply was not expected, but thank you for the reality check.

Is it because you mistook who "you'd" referred to? It refers to Blackrandl1958, as that's who has only three stories listed, none of them LW.

I see that that TTT has explained that--she pulled the stories from here. But, it may only be me, but when stories are pulled from here I no longer count them as being here.

He wasn't talking about me - well I hope he wasn't I have almost 50 stories published and the vast majority of them are in LW.

LW is a tough place to post. There almost 30k stories there now, and some very very good ones. But oh. So. Much. Shit. Too. I mean, just swathes of it.

And the commenters, well, there's every spectrum of commentor there. I wish I could limit commenters to just those with an account because I suspect a LOT of the negativity would go away. Not all of it, but a lot of the anon one line "This is cuck bullshit" stuff would - which is also interesting because you get those kinds of comments on pure BTB stories, which goes to show that some anons don't even read the story; they just see it's by someone they've been upset by in the past and just knee jerk.

There's a LOT of that, and you need a thick skin to resist it. I'm at the point of finishing two series there and never coming back because the negativity is so overwhelming, because, well, I feel like I'm providing something for nothing, something people don't have to consume if they don't want to, and you still get told to 'go kill yourself rather than write again'.

You can. You have the option of not allowing public comment when you submit the story. In fact, you probably can go in now on your author's page and choose that option for whatever posted story you want to.
