The issue here is that it looks like she was arrested for speaking out, not because she was illegal. She isn't out of the legal system. She's in process to have her Dreamer status renewed. Yes, she'd let her protection under that lapse, but only by a couple of months before applying again--and her application is in the system. Arresting her and not going after all Dreamers in the same situation--or better yet, going after the ones they say they want to get to--those with no legal standing whatsoever and arrested initially for crimes--just makes this a sour "gotcha" to shut her up and anyone else objecting to the arbitrary scare and mean-spirited tactics.
