Come on now that was a great speech

I don't think we've had such direct honesty and clear objectives in a very long time.

And he seems to be delivering on them too.

The media is having a collective meltdown over having to admit it was good while figuring out how to spin it badly. I've flipped around various channels for that very reason.

And the democrats... yeesh good luck with opposing that.

First Melania was spectacular. She certainly helped keep me alert.

Then a Republican President telling a republican congress, we're gonna give paid parental leave??

And before The RW hardliners come and say this is communism, I hope you noticed how he said "in this new era", like a currently banned member said 2 weeks ago. (God rest His Soul).

And healthcare seems to going to be through tax credits and 'healthcare savings accounts'. Let's keep in mind, tax reforms reducing taxes on the middle class.

Pre-existing conditions cannot be refused. But my bet is insurance companies would charge higher rates..

I don't know how it was prior to Obamacare so i can't comment if that's good or bad.

Where did they find this old white man to speak for Democrats? I thought they were exterminated for the good of society a few years ago.

The Democrats looked totally shell shocked. Their faces screamed butt hurt.

Even more pathetic is the half baked Bozo the Dems chose to deliver their official response. The height of his "speech" was quoting the Pledge of Allegiance. Whose decision was it to choose this guy? What an embarrassment. Par for the Democrat course.

I thought Pelosi's reaction to the job news was pretty funny.
She has a hard time believing people can get jobs without a government program.
I'm still not sold on Trump and I think some of what he proposed is just bad.

I don't agree with the response that the administration showed hatred and called the other side enemies. it was quite clear how Democrats and pro DNC networks did so.

On healthcare, I do agree that provisions need to be made for those who cannot afford coverage especially with preexisting conditions. You simply cannot accept that people in the US feel desperation that they cannot get healthcare and/or buy medicine.

I am certainly glad our President had the good sense to deliver a disciplined, rational, professionally written message to a joint session of Congress on the biggest public stage next to the inauguration.

But people are nuts if they think this represents some major turning point in the "tone and tenor" of this administration. Tomorrow he turns back into a pumpkin. For the simple reason that he enjoys being a pumpkin.

Kentucky

He sees no value in people who know how to manage vast sums of money in office, he wants to return to the SJW-bureaucrat model that was so good for families over the past eight years...

The SOTU response always seems to be a bit of a shitshow. Reps choose high profile national spotlight polticians who crash and burn, and Dems choose anonymous nobodies with the communicative skills of wet cardboard.

He literally popped up on the Late Show last night.

These two were my absolute favorites. I recall Howard Dean literally thanking them at some point, i think during Bush days.

He was on Colbert a few weeks ago, that was lame and not funny at all. This clip here, is sorry to say: meh.

I think the two Jimmys are doing a better job. Colbert has become a whiner.

The matter that was not clear was Healthcare. I am not sure what difference does it make if you are poor with a preexisting, and the promise to have affordable access to coverage means insurance companies will have low rates... I don't know how they'll do that. They snapped back at Obama quite hard.

I didn't notice if he spoke about tax reform. I must've been distracted.

I was once a Democrat. In those days, I thought I was on the team of truth, justice, and the American way. It was fun to be a Democrat then. But... Bye, bye Miss American Pie. Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry. I woke up.

I'm no longer a Democrat (it's been many years now), and though on the rarest of occasions I worried I'd made a mistake, Tuesday night watching the shell-shocked faces of the Democrats on the floor of Congress while Donald Trump delivered his magnificent speech, I knew I had made no error. I even wondered what was going on in my head in those isolated moments I doubted myself.

The Democratic Party members watching that speech looked like a party of the living dead. They didn't know how to react. They didn't know if they were Americans. They didn't know who they were.

Every time Trump called for bipartisanship for the good of our country, they winced. They couldn't stand it and didn't know how to react because they are the least bipartisan people in the world and they scarcely know what cooperating is. Working together is not in their natures. Yes, they talk about it endlessly but they never do it. (See: the history of the Soviet Union) Maybe it's not in their DNA. (I should check mine.)

When the speech was over -- after there was no longer a dry eye in the house from the introduction of the widow of the Navy SEAL -- they left the room faster than fans of the losing team after the Super Bowl, only in this case they left so stunned you had to wonder if they would ever win the game again or even compete.

Of course it was a good speech. Trump is a huckster and a salesman. Like ALL Presidential speeches, none of the unicorns and fairies will become a reality. I quit watching SOTU addresses because they were such BS. Trump's speech was the same.

Son of a gun, Trump's a Libertarian without the drug, foreign policy, and immigration hang-ups.

They had to dig deep to come up with that back bencher. Apparently, he's the only white man they didn't tell to shut up.

Utter losers. I relate a lot to this guy. I was a pro Dem until a few years ago.

But, what was those army people's beef? Why didn't they stand up for that navy seal?
