In a frenzied effort to stop truthful information from being divulged about the Trump administration, press secretary Scott Spicer called his staff into his office and with legal counsel behind him, ordered his staff to produce their government issued and private cell phones for inspection. He wanted to verify they were not the source of leaks to the media about the chaotic situation taking place at the White House.

He also warned them about using encrypted messaging software such as Signal or Confide which violate the Federal Records Act, something Republican lawmakers use every day to hide their activities.

When finished with his inspection, he asked the staff not to leak information to the press about the meeting or the inspection or their efforts to stop truthful information from getting out.

The staff promptly informed the press about the meeting and inspection.

A fountain made of leaks ?

The State Department recently sent a legal memo to its staff outlining the dangers of leaking, which we know about because the memo was itself leaked.

Then on Friday, President Trump criticized the FBI and called for an investigation after sources at the agency leaked that FBI officials had refused White House requests for them to leak information to the press in order to dispute leaked accounts of contact between Trump officials and the Russian government.

Then again, while Trump has called for going after leakers, he has simultaneously accused news organizations of inventing the sources of the leaks, as well as insisted that the leaks are real, but the news based on the leaks is fake.

And elsewhere in the Trump gang, we had Donald himself asking the Russians to hack and publish the content of Hillary's e-mail account in a nationally televised press conference.

Next there will be a ban in the White House against stamps and envelopes.
