Donald Trump and lying.

Yes, he lies ― constantly, badly and ridiculously ― but the assembled lies create a whole that is greater and more awe-inspiring than the parts. Massive lies for mass audiences are a tool of what author and political scientist Corey Robin calls “reactionary populism.” He writes in “The Reactionary Mind”: “From revolutions, conservatives also develop a taste and talent for the masses, mobilizing the street for spectacular displays of power while making certain power is never truly shared or redistributed. That is the task of right-wing populism: to appeal to the mass without disrupting the power of elites or, more precisely, to harness the energy of the mass in order to reinforce or restore the power of elites.”

Consider some of Trump’s most flagrant lies: that the “real” unemployment rate is 42 percent, not 4.9 percent; that inner-city crime is reaching “record levels”; that global warming is a hoax invented by the Chinese; that he witnessed thousands of Muslims in Jersey City celebrating the collapse of the Twin Towers; that millions voted illegally in the last presidential election; and that the Obama administration was supporting al Qaeda in Iraq.

“Lies” doesn’t quite capture the distance between these statements and truth. Staid, boring, newspaper language has gotten editors tied up in knots. What do you call a lie that causes you to pause and rewind? What do you call a claim that is so patently and verifiably false that you feel insulted for even being expected to debate it? What do you call a sudden shift in position that demands that you ignore both your “lying eyes” and the official record? “Brazen dishonesty” does not quite do it. Neither does saying that he goes “beyond lying.” It’s not even “bullshit,” which is a lie thrown off carelessly, with no power dynamic at play.

Hip-hop has a better word for it: fuckery.

Have you tried to read the reasoning behind *why* some of these claims have been made?

China didn't invent global warming, it was a study by NASA where they fudged the numbers to fit their goal. snowflake trigger warning Just because I don't 100% believe everything I'm told, especially when this has such a huge price tag, I'm called a 'denier' because I do research instead of taking someone's word for it.

Inner city violence... How can you not see this? Have you heard of Detroit or Chicago? DC or Baltimore? LA? If you can't be bothered to look this up for yourself, why should I waste my time when you probably won't even read it before calling it "fake news".

Unemployment is WAY above 4.9%. Fudging numbers and statistics make it easy to lie, and the people/organizations that would be affected by a high percentage do the math, they do it in the way that looks the best for them and their administration. Take a peek around the internets to see why this tiny number is bogus.

Not gonna bother dismissing the rest of your claims. Yes he said those thiings, and there's a chance they could be true, there is enough evidence on the interwebs that prevents the reader from disproving them. Go ahead those, treat every word out of his mouth as a lie.

Yes, but Trump's on record having said that global warming was a hoax perpetrated by China. And I'll take the word of the US Defense Department, who relies on independently verifiable data, over the unverifiable (no citations given!) assertions of that silly NewsMax site...

Do you think our brave men & women in uniform are rabid tree-hugging leftists? Please, don't even think of going there...

Yup, Trump did in fact say that in 2012. For years, people have been calling global warming BS, and lots of theories came up for why, and that was one of them. He said China made up the whole global warming thing for competitive trade reasons. And yeah, he was totally wrong.

The US DoD did a report on this, and as much respect as I have for the men and women in the military, you're making a BS call saying they are "tree-hugging leftists" when the ones that actually do the reports like that are beauracratic civilians. Nice try at swaying emotions with a diversion. Your point is pointless.

If you'll look at the date of that DoD report, it's from around the same general timeframe from my links below. They were in damage control. They are politicians who are defending the US federal govt and multiple US govt agencies with a large profile, not to mention the massive amounts of cash that have been thrown at this "problem", making lots of people rich. This report also seems to imply that the government should be bigger in order to help these poor people that would be affected by rising seawater. The DoD, to the best of my knowledge, didn't go through the raw data from those tens of thousands of weather stations, weather balloons, and sattelites, compile it all into useable forms, and datamine something useable out of it so they could match their stats with the scientific community. No, they used reports and orders from other people in the government so they could give a damage-control report.

I'm not saying that there is or isn't any actual global warming or cooling, whether or not it's human-kind's fault, or if cows fart too much. I'm saying that data suggests that the Earth goes through periodic changes - by itself - and the theory that suddenly humans are the cause of the Earth dying in five years (maybe that last part was a teensy bit sarcastic). I'm saying that data by smart people suggest that the original raw data was tampered with so the results matched a pre-determined outcome. And Global Warming as a 'thing' was invented.

If you don't want the Newsmax site, I've got more, and yes, inside of these pages, they do list dates and places and that sciency-jazz that helps their case. (and no Breitbart, lol)

Trump has been tweeting about how bad street violence is in Chicago. He threatened or offered to send in "the Feds" on January 24th, and yesterday clearly said, "Chicago needs help!"

“We’ve made requests to the White House and the Justice Department for them to support our work — from increasing federal gun prosecution to more FBI, DEA and ATF agents to more funding for mentoring, job training and more,” Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said in a statement. “The mayor made the request in person as recently as last week and we are hopeful the administration will finally respond.”
He has the means to help Chicago. He has good reasons to help Chicago. Chicago is requesting his help. And the fucker hasn't done it.

The tiny town of Gloucester, MA has joined the protest rallies against Trump fuckery, this week.

Yes, the home of the Gorton's Fisherman.(Just follow the birds. Gorton's may be using fireworks to scare the birds away.)

Hundreds of Gloucester protesters want Trump gone.

The basic belief is that Trump is crazy and careless.

On February 15, 2017 The Gloucester protesters joined the One Billion Rising protest march to end violence against women.

There is fear that Trump will bancrupt America. Seven million dollars a year, (tax break) given to the members of the 400 richest families in the USA.

A trillion dollars earmarked for "his real people."(The people that attend his rallies are his unreal people ? BTW, Trump lied about his recent Florida rally. No one was outside of the venue.Protesters stayed away. There were not a thousand Trump fans cheering outside.)

We cannot expect U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to say Trump fuckery, in public.

2/23/17

A U.S. Supreme Court justice has mounted a defense of the free press and praised women who marched in protest at Donald Trump ’s presidency.

Speaking to the BBC’s Newsnight program in remarks set to be broadcast Thursday night, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of the 11 judges who sits on America’s highest court, said: "I read the Washington Post and the New York Times every day, and I think that the reporters are trying to tell the public the truth."

"Think of what the press has done in the United States,” she continued, pointing to the Watergate scandal. “That story might never have come out if we didn't have the free press that we do.

What should he do this afternoon to make this happen? Put armored FBI agents on every street corner? Use ThreeLetterAgencies to federalize the county sheriff and police chief positions?

Federalizing the law enforcement is a bad idea and I think it's unconstitutional. Giving help where it's requested is a great idea, and there will probably be some extra funds and equipment made available. The street violence is bad, lots of gun crimes in an area that has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. Hopefully things are in the works already, and unfortunately these "political agreements" take time to legally work through (cash, manpower, etc).

(I'm not trying to antagonize, I think a calm rational discussion about this would be cool.)

Yes, Chicago and Illinois have strict gun laws, but Indiana does not. Guns are flowing in across that state line, so it is an issue for federal enforcement. More FBI, DEA and ATF agents for enforcement of existing laws will reduce that number.

Wall number two will separate Illinois from Indiana. I can't wait to drive down Obama interstate I-55. Old Rt 66 will never be the same!

The Trump White House Would Never Ban A News Outlet

The Trump White House Would Never Ban A News Outlet

Sean Spicer

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer once said that only a dictatorship would prevent the media from access to public information.

Two months later he blocked several high-profile news outlets from the daily press briefing.

In December, Spicer promised that the Trump administration would never ban press access regardless of the President’s feelings on their news coverage. When Politico’s Jake Sherman asked Mr Spicer if the new administration would limit press access, he responded by saying the media is what “makes a democracy a democracy versus a dictatorship.

What did Sean Spicer say ?

Spicer replied: “Look, there’s a big difference between a campaign where it is a private venue using private funds and a government entity. I think we have a respect for the press when it comes to the government. That is something you can’t ban an entity from."

A campaign event staged at a private venue paid for by private funds from the campaign.OK, Trump can ban whoever he loves likes.

A government official, in a government owned function room, and a government ofiicial's office. Both were tax payer funded. Not OK to ban the White House Press Corps from the White House.

"You know...

" conservative, liberal, otherwise I think that is what makes a democracy a democracy versus a dictatorship.”

Barring The White House Press Corps from the White House

New York Times editorial

Other presidents refrained from barring the press and the media. They did not want to endure the shame of being labeled petty and vindictive.

Trump's wife Melania spelled it out in black and white.

"As you may know by now, when you attack him, he will punch back ten times harder.”

"No matter who you are, a man or a woman, he treats everyone equal."

If a reporter, journalist, or correspondent quotes Trump directly, does Trump consider that an attack ?

If a cameraman or sound tech records what Trump says or does, is that an attack ?

If a news outlet gets public information from the government, about what Trump has ordered, or signed, or proposed, is that an attack ?

If research proves Trump has lied, decieved, or committed a crime or treason, is that an attack ?

Lately, if a news outlet contradicts what Trump has claimed, there is retribution from Trump.

When the truth is proven, but it works against Trump, if the news outlets insist on the proven truth, they are attacked as liars.

If you do not accept Trump's denial of proven facts, and say you do no accept his denials and lies, Trump attacks and punishes.

Trump wants power without scrutiny.

He does not want the pblic to know what deals he makes, so he goes to Mar a Lago, where he has private ownership and control over the press and the media.

Trump constantly uses the phrase "Believe me."

Trump lied too many time. The public wants proof.

When Trump took his temper tantrum out on internationally recognized news sources, he let tge world know he would blind people to the truth, deafen people to what should be heard, and restrict the press from where the media should be.

You could have mentioned Muslims in NJ celebrating on 9-11. "Thousands" might have been an exaggeration, but there were probably hundreds of them.

I can see you believing that, Box, but of course it's bullshit--as is Trump's claim that he even was in New Jersey that day and looking around at what anyone else was doing.

Trump addressed the nation, and read his script off of the teleprompter. We had seen this happen, before. Trump performs his very poor impression of a sane person, and promptly returns to his usual habits.

Trump will not pivot, and suddenly decide to provide the USA with the president it needs.

It is beyond his capabilities.

Fuckery yesterday, fuckery today, and more fuckery, tommorow.

I have no idea where trump was on 9/11/2001, but he claimed to have seen videotapes of the celebrants. He may have exaggerated the total, but I have it on good authority there were Muslims celebrating in NJ.

https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search...tom,p:s,v:w,m:at-s&fr=yhs-iry-fullyhosted_003

It was covered up at the time to protect the celebrants and the media is lying now to make Trump look bad.

Any sane adult now knows that Trump is a pathological liar and nothing he says can be taken as truth. Any sane adult, Box. Any sane adult.

I don't deny he is almost as big a liar as Hillary, but, in this specific instance, he was telling the truth, although exaggrated. :(
