McConnell invokes Rule 19; Republic suffers another cut

Ted Cruz once called McConnell a liar on the Senate floor, and he wasn't punished at all.

This thread is funny without being very surprising. There's basically no punishment for the opponents of Donald Trump that would be "going too far" for the RWCJ.

Well, if he did and he wasn't, then he should have been. We'd have to revisit that instance to properly dissect it.

Paragraph 2 of Senate rule 19 says: "No Senator in debate shall, directly or indirectly, by any form of words impute to another Senator or to other Senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a Senator."

The whole purpose of quoting Coretta Scott King was to impugn the character of Sessions.

But, yeah, the whole purpose of calling McConnell a liar would be to impugn his character as well, so there is that.

That sounds like a very, very bad rule to have. Decorum could be maintained without it.

Are you to have none, then, if you cannot afford a private school, which most people cannot?

Likely no. What would be the point in having a kid to set them up for failure in life??

If it was an accident and had no way to make money (which idk how people are that dumb or lazy) I'd do whatever I had to do to make it happen.

If there simply was no way, I'd just leave and figure out a way to set my kid up for success. Possibly look into homeschooling under some sort of apprenticeship circumstances or something. Licence to plumb/electrify/repair/weld/cultivate/fabricate/machine etc > 4yr circle jerk cert much less a public babysitting service attendance award, aka a HS Diploma.

Learning how to multiple choice isn't something I give a shit about as a parent. We teach our kids exactly ZERO life skills or even clue them into the reality that awaits them and as such I think the vast majority of public schools in the US are total fuckin' shit.

Actually, I love it. It has been so long since the Republicans did nothing but cower in the face of Progressive bullying and double-standard. Trump seems to be rubbing off on them, they are growing some balls and they are holding Progressives to their own standards (rules) on "hate speech."

Alinsky 101

It's a small but necessary step towards puttin' those uppity coloreds back in their place, right Chief?

As we go down this path, you may yet achieve your lifelong goal of once again being able to say "nigger" without fear of consequence.

Warren certainly knew/knows how to get Coretta King's remarks on a man who wasn't a U.S. senator at the time read and absorbed by the general population. Used McConnell as her boy toy.

Circumstances?

Whether you call yourselves Republicans, conservatives, alt-rightists, racists, white supremacists, the fact is your all whiners.

Didn’t like the “black” guy, huh? Not too crazy about MLK, or his Missus?

You're so pleased that the GOP is finally growing a set! For eight years, your beloved GOP obstructed a president from doing his job. Now that took balls!
Why are we in the shape we’re in? George W. and then your ersatz president, Mitch, “The Turtle” McConnell, obstructing everything and anything the president wanted to do, including his right, decided by the people and specified in the Constitution, to appoint a Supreme Court justice.

How many of you send or have sent your kids to public school? I’ll guarantee you that not one senator has sent their kids to public school and, in all likelihood, few and far between are the reps that have. Neither have any of the plutocrats in the cabinet. Amway billionaire Betsy DeVos probably never went near a neighborhood that had a public school in it. When was the last time your senator bought a loaf of bread or filled up his car with gas?

When SS is privatized and Medicare and Medicaid disappear, you’ll all be on your own, for your retirement, for your health care. I hope you never need a kidney transplant or heart or back surgery. Those bills go into the six figures.

It’s kind of like winning a vacation. You win something you wanted and then they tell you that you have to pay the taxes on its value.

Good luck with the Donald. You got what you wanted, NOW DEAL WITH IT!!

Oh, does this mean Jeff Sessions can still keep the white sheet with the eyeholes in his closet?

New name...

For two years, there was nothing the Republicans could do to stop the Democrats. Then the American people rejected the Obama agenda. You are engaging in typical Democrat Racialism. Nothing more.

I'm still waiting for links. First it was many, then it was Ted...

Russian democracy only allows for press supportive of the dictator and for senators to say only good things about a man nominated for the office of Attorney General of the United States.

Let them return to caning each other!

:caning:

The general population isn't paying a bit of fucking attention, they've gone back to their lives. Only the angry, upset and depressed are still trying to re-litigate the campaign.

In a way, this is a brilliant move. By making Cherokee Lizzie "You didn't build that" Warren the martyr of the Democrat Party, you put the full spotlight on her (which she desires above all else) and cut out the voices of anyone reasonable, or even more towards the center (you know, Blue Wall Democrats), of the Democrat Party invisible. Spend the next two years running against Lizzie while she spends the next four years running as the shade of Hillary...

GAWD! I love this!!!

Yes obviously has you scared. :D

Really?

I would rather see her run than someone else, anyone else in the party.

She is the wing of the party that cost you the election.

Why the hell would that scare me, or anyone else, at this point?

It is true that Cruz did call McConnell a liar but I suspect a sufficient challenge and resulting vote wasn't forthcoming.

This is true. I suspect it requires a challenge from the floor and a sufficient number of willing votes to accomplish what was accomplished today. Could be wrong.

If Ted was speaking the truth, then it's not against the rules.

;) ;)

How many times has McConnell lied to his base?
