We decided to start almost at the beginning, with Ford’s original mass-market engine, delivered in almost 16 million units of the Model T. Between its introduction in 1908 and the end of production in 1927, the basic engine in the Model T hardly changed at all, and it continued to be used in a wide variety of applications after Ford moved on. Actually, Packard invented that stuff. It was a mistake created when a crushed ball bearing got into the paint, and they painted two cars with it before the Deetroit auto show. Some boss saw it and liked it and said, don't repaint them. I think they may have been maroon.


THat's how I remember the story from 40+ years ago.


My ride is also black. The scratches are white and the dent is both primer and rust. So I guess it's really four-color camo . . . .
