Video Games

Nice :) That sounds like a fun game from what I've seen. I've been playing World of Warcraft again lately.

I can't play MMOs. They are literally too addicting for me. I used to play FFXIV, and it took a break up to get me to stop playing it. I play a little bit of multiplayer but mostly, I stick to single player games.

Do you have an opinion on The Holy Trinity - Tank, Healer, DPS? Any preferences?

I've played all three classes in wow, I've raid tanked, raid healed, and raid dps'd. I also pvp, which is fun in spurts but I can't handle too much of it.

And you're a woman... so healer? Hm.. that joke doesn't sound so great in text. Uhh well anyway, what's your favorite? PVP was fun in WoW. I got to level 74 and had a good time messing aroung with players from Horde. I oftentimes got killed but it never felt frustrating or unfair. Then again, I only played it for about 6 months.

Wait, you're the girl who upset all the other women in that pic thread! Hey, how'd that end up working out, btw? Did you lose any sleep over it?

lol I started out as a dps. I chose a hunter because that's what seemed to give people the most trouble back when I picked it. I healed during 2 of the expansions of the game, and I found that fun, but Blizzard has this habit of breaking every class each time they come out with new content now, forcing everyone to relearn how they play their class. What they did with my healer made it pretty much a dps class that also healed a little, but not my cup of tea. I like to be good at something, not kind of good at a few things. So I went to tanking.

The pic thread thing, well I'll take as much responsibility as anyone for that. I guess people don't like seeing pics over and over, and I have to admit it's annoying sometimes. I didn't take any real heat over it though, and I didn't lose any sleep over it.

Yeah, I have Diablo III and some hardcore group added me to their guild or whatever the game calls it. They always talked about Blizzard changing the balance of class design. I remember when I played FF, I would get super pissed when even the slightest change was made to classes I played.

I enjoyed playing Paladin in WoW. The shield throw just destroys everything. In FF, the shield lob is literally just to pull with. It grabs aggro with very little damage. In WoW, you throw a shield and it wipes out everything in front of you.

The only downside to WoW was that if you played with friends and you surpassed them in level, you couldn't play lower leveled dungeons. That was a feature added to FF so it was really off putting when I played WoW.

The Rogue is so awesome, at least to me! I remember just trying to do a quest and I died instantly from some invisible Rogue. I called my friend and was like, "Hey I'm leveling a Horde character." :D

Oh and no no no, don't be modest! You know damn well they were jealous of you. :D Hell, I'm a guy and I'm jealous! Fate gave me man boobs instead. :/ haha

Everyone I know that plays wow thinks it's so unfair that rogues can stealth and then pop out, keep you stunned forever while they kill you with no hope whatsoever of you getting a chance to hit them, and then if things happen to go south for them, they just vanish and poof they're gone. That's the fun thing about PvP though, it gets your blood boiling :) It does have a way of making it more satisfying when you score a kill.

The class thing has always bothered me. I understand class balancing, it makes the game keep working. But constantly changing, breaking, remaking in a different way, killing off very fundamental talents and skills that each class has used forever, etc. Blizzard has way too much time on their hands. They never *just* design new content, they go back and transform the way you play each time. But I'm sure it's a balancing act to keep their subscribers interested in playing. There's always that race for some players that start new content and finish it and then go afk the rest of that content period.

I just started play WoW about a month ago, it's been fun.
I'm playing a Troll Druid and learning to be a healer.

Just beat Dark Souls 2. On to Dark Souls 3 tomorrow. :D

Congrats! Good luck on 3. Hopefully, you won't die a trillion times in the tutorial zone like I did. For Iudex Gundyr, be sure to keep a lot of distance between you and him during his first phase, and then get nose to nose with him during his second phase. If he tries to collapse on you, just roll behind him.

Damn I fell asleep last night.

I will say, I have heard how annoying it is to be instakilled at any second by some troll. Oh and the people who just camp your dead body, waiting for you to "respawn" (for lack of the proper term). I personally never dealt with that but I'm sure I only scratched the surface of the game.

I do hope you find some people around here who share a similar interest to multiplayer games. :) And damn, I'm surprised this thread didn't blow up. No love for the gaming community on Lit, I suppose. :/ lol

Thanks, Elsie! It's good to see you. I am going into this game blind so I will probably understand more of your explanation when I die a few times to the first boss. What class did you pick? I hear that the Knight is hands down the best class to min/max with, and I've looked over the choices. Seems about right.

I guess why I'm so excited is because this is the true first Souls game I have ever really gone into blind. Like, I don't know what the first area looks like, what the first enemy mobs are, first boss, etc. I honestly never thought I'd make it. I'm looking forward to PVP this time around. I was always scared of PVP in Souls but DS2 fixed that. So yeah, I'll have to respond to your advice a bit later! :D

As far as dying a trillion times, I'm sure I'll die quadrillions of times!!!!! That's if I'm lucky!

Okay so the fight was difficult because he was really fast. HOWEVER, he had a very similar moveset as most of Dark Souls 2. He has a right hand weapon and he does a large swing. So, roll right at him but slightly to his right side (your left). Either 1.) Your I-frames will negate any damage or 2.) You'll get hit by the weakest part of his weapon which will do minimal damage and give you a chance to heal afterwards.

His second phase, I don't really know. I just kept trying to get behind him and I dual-handed my weapon to put out max damage.

I think most humanoid enemies in DS2 had that same first attack where you could roll right through the swing. Funny thing is, the fastest and deadliest boss was the Pursuer which was one of the first bosses in the game. And the pursuer comes back as a shade several times throughout the game. So, after practicing on him for hours, I think that's what helped with this first boss.

I've been dealing with some sound issues in my headset. Apparently the game doesn't support 5.1 virtual surround sound so I'm playing on stereo. It took me a while to find out what was the problem. I also spent an hour on character customization. I'm a pretty girl named Lily. lol

I play video games but never played them online with another person. Most of mine have been just tame. Jame Bond, Red Dead Redeemption (Love the westerns... can't wait for the new one next year.) Batman. But I am one of those that plays older systems until the newer one come down in price and the games are cheap. I have an Xbox 360 and Xbox and Playstation 2 and a Wii.

I initially picked the caster. God, that was a TERRIBLE choice. I died SO much. I think it took 4 days of me trying to kill the tutorial boss to figure that out. I switched to a Knight and it was a little easier, but still. I think it still took me 2 more days to kill that jerk.

For all you "Souls" gamers out there, have any of you tried Bloodborne? It was my first From Software game and is absolutely one of my favorites. I tried Dark Souls but it didn't quite grab me in the same way.

I've never played it. I have heard that it is very very good. Also, there are a lot of Bloodborne players who dislike Dark Souls. All of the Souls games are acquired tastes IMO. Even going from DS1 to DS2 and now to DS3 is difficult because the mechanics change quite a bit. It's kind of nice, but also kind of annoying. I dunno... I have mixed feelings about changes.

DS3 seems to be more like DS1 than DS2 but I'm only at the beginning.

I'm sure you'll be getting a Bloodborne 2 at some point. FromSoft has made it very clear that if they go any further with Dark Souls, it will be completely different with no ties to these three.

I just started to pick up WoW again, I never really got into it when I was younger hoping this time will be different. I've played a mage before but this time I'm going the Warrior route.

My MAJOR addiction though is League of Legends. I wanted (but sadly got sick and couldn't) to go to Worlds this year as I was right in the middle of Quarter and Semi-Finals.
