Video Games

I initially picked the caster. God, that was a TERRIBLE choice. I died SO much. I think it took 4 days of me trying to kill the tutorial boss to figure that out. I switched to a Knight and it was a little easier, but still. I think it still took me 2 more days to kill that jerk.

Oh yeah! The caster has very little STR/DEX and no armor or vigor. I'm not gonna lie, I put some heavy gear on during some of the bosses in DS2 just to survive the fights. DS2 has an interesting rolling mechanic where you can roll decently fast even with heavy armor. The rolls in DS3 so far seem so slow :O I swear, it was as if the boss was moving in fast forward and I was moving at half speed. =P

Yeah, if anything, the speed is really really strange. It's like "Wait no, you're not supposed to be that fast! Stop recovering so quickly! Dammit!" :D

I was gonna ask for the age-range in here...But then Semler and Spenser posted .

There's goes that theory..

According to statista (never heard of it), here is the breakdown of ages:

Under 18 = 27%
18-35 = 29%
36 - 49 = 18%
50+ = 26%

So 63% of gamers are over 18-years-old. There is a misconception that gamers are young, which is completely untrue.

Different source - Polygon
Average age of guys who play videogames regularly is 35yo
Average age of women who play games regularly is 44yo.

So, believe it or not, video games are an adult conversation. I think it's reasonable to come home from work and play games rather than watch television. Also, I think it's easier to binge gaming than it is to watch all the seasons of Scrubs in one sitting.

If nothing else I think it's healther than binge-watching netflix as with netflix or T.V. it's an input only activity with no out-put from yourself. On the other hand gaming is interactive and requires thought/action to participate in.

Plus then if you play games that have a competive seen in e-sports like DOTA or League of Legends, or any of the other MOBA games you've got a whole industry of interesting stuff.

Rated E for everyone. :)

Im 52 and I still PC game alot...

Shooters...MMOs...strategy...

That's a bit vague. What Shooters, MMOs, and strategies?

I mean... I guess, mentally, it's healthier. I'd still suggest being active.

Hey Elsie, so a lot of my friends get really pissed off at me because I spend an unusually long time completing games. Like I had over 120 hours in DS1.

The reason I say that is because I just got to Firelink Shrine, and I see that there is a key for 20,000 souls. Each of the tutorial enemies drops like 20-30 souls with a chance to drop those nameless souls that give you 50 souls when you use them.

I'll probably spend the next 2 hours farming them while normal people go forward with the game. lol I realize this is a problem, but I just can't help it. So yeah, I'm gonna be farming easy enemies for no reason.

It's okay. I'm the same way for the most part. Primarily with owning the complete version of a game. I know I am going to buy the FO4 season pass even though it is unanimously voted as being one of the worst purchases you can get for the game, but still. I really love that game, so I am going to face the fire and pull the trigger.

I did that exact same thing with FO4. I haven't even touched Far Harbor or any of the other DLC for that matter. But what happened was, I bought FO4 originally and wasn't going to get the Season Pass because I have hated all the previous Bethesda DLC. But I swear, every time I would think about the game, the Season Pass would sit in the back of my mind.

It was expensive, too, wasn't it? I don't remember how much it cost at the time, but I waited for the Steam Summer Sale. It did not go on sale. I banged my head against the desk before finally pulling the trigger.

Oh and after farming these guys for this long, I only have 3,000 souls. Nah, I think I've changed my mind. I'm gonna move on. lol It's not worth it. The reason I brought it up to begin with was because if somebody asked how far I had gotten and I responded, "I'm still at the beginning of the game," I would imagine it would be weird to hear that.

ANYWAY............. so how's everybody doing? :D

Quitter.

Elsie, that really hurt. I just can't believe that you would be so mean. I'm just not sure I can take your verbal abuse anymore. I just... I dunno... I need some time to think... maybe our friendship is... maybe we are... maybe I should just....

No, I'm willing to fight through this. I'm willing to keep trying. It's going to take a lot of work on your end, but I accept your apology. It's just going to take time for me to heal.

I rarely complete games so, I can't talk.

Gamer here as well. I mostly League of Legends and Path of Exile these days, but I'm mostly an mmo gamer, like wow, swtor, daoc and the like. Played d3 for a long time. Don't do shooters much. My hands and reflexes are kind of fucked. But I love rpgs. In Wow, it was my shadow priest. I loved that bastard. I've played some of the DS games and Bloodborne. My cousin loves them.

For all you "Souls" gamers out there, have any of you tried Bloodborne? It was my first From Software game and is absolutely one of my favorites. I tried Dark Souls but it didn't quite grab me in the same way.

I only play on PC, so... No.

I just got one of the Atari throwback systems for Christmas and have spent too much time reacquainting myself with Space Invaders.

This is why I chose a girl. They get the best looking gear. The Fire Keeper robe set looks so good! Well, you can't really see it I guess. Oh well.

Yeah, real nice shot of the armor, there, Chris. I bet you were a real ace photographer in Fatal Frame.

Regarding armor in games, sometimes armor for female characters can be stupid. It was really hard playing a Mesmer in Guild Wars 2 without looking like a stripper ballerina or some sort of cosplaying moron. Rarely was there a good middle ground.

I play video games pretty frequently. Love the bio shock games. And overwatch

HEY, I was really great at that game! Actually, I sucked. I couldn't figure out how to beat the boss who would fuzz your camera so you couldn't take a picture of it.

Crimson Butterfly was really great in terms of atmosphere. Not many games can get the horror genre right. I felt like it hit the nail on the head.

I'm getting my ass kicked in this game, though. I will say, the enemies on the streets are A LOT harder than what I expected. Also, I have seen Bloodborne played before and I get a really weird vibe from playing this that some of Bloodborne crossed over. It's kind of weird. Maybe it's the city streets. I dunno... can't put my finger on it.

As far as slutty looking women in games... well... don't look at my mod list for FO4 or Skyrim... just don't. :D

I imagine your customizable home having custom anime wall scrolls all over the interior of the house.

*peeks*

I used to be a PC gamer-- Wow (Alliance side), Dragon Age, Dishonored, Skyrim, Dead island, Don't Starve (such a random time sink), etc. I keep up with the newest games but have zero time to play.

Oh my god, that is soooooooo weird. I was like, "How did she know?" haha I have scrolls of different games. The three largest scrolls were actually licensed Game of Thrones flags - House Stark, House Targaryen, and House Lannister. When I bought them, I didn't know they would take up the whole wall.

But yeah, I love those fabric scrolls! :D

(Edit: GoT is not a game, I know)

Don't Starve is hard as hell. I can make it about 7 days, and that's it.

Dishonored. In one playthrough, I got all the stealth achievements in one run - Mostly Flesh and Steel, Ghost, Shadow, and Clean Hands. Never spotted, no alerts, no kills, no magic except blink. I had to restart at checkpoints a lot, but... that still counts, right? lol It's actually not that impressive, now that I think about it. Great game, though. I haven't played the second one yet.

Played wow up until legion and lost interest. ( Alliance and Horde throughout the years )

Diablo Series

Final Fantasy series

Legend of Zelda Series...

I've been a gamer since the Atari came out, not many games that i haven't played over the years... right now though I mostly play League of Legends with my wife and Tera when the mood hits, oh and The Witcher series of games = <3

I made it 22 days before lightning struck and set my camp on fire. :( The lightning rod didn't protect the whole campsite.... *cries bitter, rage filled tears *

Game play for Dishonored 2 is very similar to the first- a touch easier with the expanded powers. A warning though- the story has more potholes than a hunk of swiss cheese.

...I couldn't help it, the gnomes were cute. :p. Plus, mage gear looks cool scrunched down to midget size.

.

I'll be honest, I don't like the story NOR the art style. It's just not my thing. Come to think of it, I'm not sure why I binged that game anyway. And I really really binged it. I beat it 3 times. The first time was just an average playthrough. The second, I wanted to get the achievements. Finally, I wanted to kill everything in sight for being so annoying.

I've seen some of the powers of the new game, and I think they're very cool, but I can't think of places where I'd actually use them. I don't remember any examples off the top of my head, but I remember considering the purchase.

As far as Don't Starve is concerned, I just suck... The hounds don't bother me thanks to beefalo, but I'm always hording stupid crap. I know the basics of the first seven days. It's just to stay on the move. Keep moving, keep exploring, find all the biomes, find chester, find the bug (can't remember its name), and find the pig king. I usually die to stupid crap like a bee or I lose my sanity.
