The N.E.D. also known as the National Endowment for Democracy is a US government funded NGO that actively seeks to undermine governments around the world, austensibly to "promote democracy."

Few Americans have even heard of the N.E.D., but they spend hundreds of millions of dollars funding its activities around the world each year.

According to investigative reporter Robert Parry, "...[the] NED [is] a "neocon slush fund," whose founding was the brainchild of Reagan Administration CIA Director William Casey and its leading propagandist Walter Raymond Jr., then on the staff of the National Security Council. The idea was to set up an organization funded by the U.S. Congress to take over CIA programs that attempted to influence foreign elections by promoting the selection of candidates who supported U.S. policy and would "do what the U.S. government tells them to do..."

With the left whinging about Russia allegedly influencing our election it seems timely. The administration has no room to whine about an adversery attempting that given they attempted to do so to a US ally.

A "government funded NGO" is a contradiction in terms. The NED receives government funds to be allocated to grants that it administers. It is a private organization.

The "private organization," like FNMA and FMAC, would never have been brought into existence without government funding.
