The Living Works of Art Challenge II - Female Body Edition

these are absolutely wonderful!
Thank you!
I love the Picasso. Looks like the genuine article. :D
Aren't those painting filters amazing?
Fuck, Tali that first one is astounding :heart::heart::heart:
Thank you Planet!!
Stunning, Tali. I like the first one very much, although I'd love to see it properly restored, that chipped paint is a shame ;):D

The Picasso is lovely too, although more abstract (obviously, duh...). I went to an exhibition in London recently of his portraiture and expected it all to be of that form. And some if it was, but it was really interesting that they had some early portraits he painted of his first wife, and they were extraordinary, like 'still life' paintings, incredibly naturalistic, quite moving.

Thanks Numi, don't you just love looking at Picassos early stuff? I think he was amazingly gifted and had a keen sense of where to put the paint, he was just wonderful!! :rose:

His abstract stuff always left me a bit cold, if I'm honest, but I'd never seen it for real before. I left that exhibition with much more of a sense of him, the man and the work, much more respect, and a resolution to see more.

I found I really did like the cubist stuff, when I could look up close and from further away and then up close again, it was amazing. But his early stuff? Wow. You're right, he really could paint, in whatever way he chose...

I just have way too much fun playing with these things. I used a chipped paint filter and I have one with a Picasso filter. :)

Gorgeous, Tali!

I definitely prefer the first one. "Picasso" has done some funky things with your proportions.

The patina and the cubism are both interesting without detracting from the model. And by the way, I have fun playing with those things too.

Just gorgeous Tali.
Thank you Icy! :rose:

I agree! My favorites of his are the portrait he did of his mother, the brush strokes are delicately done and it's so charming, I could look at it for hours and I love the old man with guitar because it's sad and very striking to look at.

What I love most is that he seemed to paint what he felt, his paintings almost breathe, it's fascinating!

They are definitely worth seeing in person, I reckon, I'll be seeking him out. I love that one of his mother. Truthful, but affectionate. :)

The other thing I found interesting (at the risk of boring everyone else with our 'Picasso chat'...) was his interest in other people's styles. There was a fairly early portrait which the info said was painted during a period when Picasso was very interested in Goya, and in a 'blind tasting', as it were, you'd have sworn it was by Goya. Later, he's liking Matisse, a picture of a woman in a yellow chair, and it's practically a Matisse. And right at the end of his life, still painting in his 90s and a bit obsessed with Rembrandt, a self portrait, and you can practically see Rembrandt's hand in it. Fascinating.

I like them, very nice. The Picasso filter is beautiful.

My 'sleeping bather':

I thought this would be much easier than it turned out to be for me, I'm not sure why. I got one of the arms wrong, too

I think I spotted a little underarm fluff in the original. Decided it would take too long to grow it for the picture. Also, ew... ;)

You get the pose very nice and as a model you are as good or better than the one in the painting.

Those pics are great, so have fun all you want.
Yay! Thank you Ms! :rose:

Oh definitely, he was a great mimick to other artists. As an artist I think he liked to change it up and reinvent himself as he had so many different styles. I'll have to check those out that you mentioned as I don't recall seeing those, thank you!! :rose:

My arms weren't exact either and my eyes were open, but it's open to interpretation, right? :)

It doesn't really matter when the result is beautiful like this photo is Numi, you always have a good eye and this is no exception, it's beautiful!! :rose:

Very lovely, Numi. Yours looks a bit like you are just awakening and stretching from that blissful sleep. Ready for round 2, perhaps?;)

Just lovely, my dear. If you were sleeping, I might just wake you with a kiss.

Critique the image all you want, but especially with that matte finish, it resembles an actual canvas, ready for framing and hanging in Louvre. Or at my place.:rose:

Lovely sleeping bather Numi. The colours and canvas finish work together very nicely.

Icy loving it, you so did Renoir proud,,,,, its a gorgeous picture, the colors are amazing.
:kiss::kiss::kiss::rose:

Thanks Emmy.

A very artsy rendition. Nice!

Thank you.

Very tempting to come over and wake you up.

I don't wake up too grumpy. Lol

Oooooo, great colors Icy, you look marvelous!!

Thanks Tali. I took the background of the painting and incorporated it in.

 How did I miss that one?

Gorgeous colours in there, Icy. And I love the hint of a navel, very sexy...

Thank you Numi.
I've ended up not really liking this one.

Strangely you look more like a marble statue in this one than you did when doing the statues. Were you confusing Rodin with Renoir? Whatever. You still look great. :)

I can't say I've ever studied any type of art. I guess I got my mediums confused.

This is an amazing picture. You look fabulous.

That you JP.

Love the colors. The whole think just pops. Very nice.

Thanks weekender.

Thank you, Ms G, you say the loveliest things...

Thank you, Sir! A good nap is always restorative, no?

Just lovely, my dear. If you were sleeping, I might just wake you with a kiss.

Aw, thank you. I'm left wondering where exactly you might place the kiss :)

Thank you kindly, Mr G! It's quite good that canvas filter when used gently, I think. I've never deployed it before, but it seemed to fit for this one.

Lovely sleeping bather Numi. The colours and canvas finish work together very nicely.

Thank you, Icy! I did fiddle with the hue a lot to get to that palette.
