Here's some screenshots of my game today. My screen is big, so click if you want to see the full res. Comcast was having issues today, so I had to turn some graphics down, everybody was DC'ing tonight, lol.

Open World PVE raid
Standing beside my favorite dwarf friend, he did top DPS, I am not good at dps, but was 5 below him.

I'm sure DPs mean something totally different in the game world lol ;)

Hehe, what do you think it means?

In gaming terminology, it means "damage per second". I'll be working on refining my dps rotation so I can get it up to respectable levels. Heals, that is something in my blood.

 *actually speechless*

You know, I just saw how you typed that out. DPs.... Lol, of course that would mean something entirely different here!

if you are doing that in game.....oh my!

and if you are trying to get your DPs rate up.....double oh my! ;)

I wish I knew more about gaming jargon.

My video gaming experience lately has been nothing but Pokemon for the last few years. I have never played WoW or any of the other games like that. There are so many stats and conversions and terms and classes and weaponry and......well, you get the idea.

This is one reason why when everyone starts going into that realm that all i can do is sit back and smile. I don't have the passion to comprehend it all, but I do love feeling it when die hards such as Tiamo and Chris start going tech. It reminds me of the jargon we had in my unit back in the Army and all the jargon I use at the Powdercoating shop and the pizza place. It is a whole new language and once one is synced in, it becomes part of their vernacular.

I love watching you all converse about this. Maybe one day, I'll be able to keep up with it better and become a more active participant.

That being said, I can't wait until Pokemon Sun and Moon come out in nine days. :)

How much have you evolved in game skills since you returned to rift?

As to the DPs thing....I'm ....ummm...Well hey, how's the weather there tonight?...:D

By the way, I love the red accents on the dragon in those screenshots. :)

I am wearing a red tshirt actually.

Hi Dark - LTNS - and good to see you back.

If you haven't read it, John Scalzi's "Red Shirts" is a good book. It's about a group of red shirts...who figure out they're red shirts...and their whole job is die horribly to set up the lead characters heroics. Then, they try to figure out how not to get killed. It's very entertaining.

In my working world acronyms are the secret language. I've heard entire conversations in acronym. It's strange and amusing.

Hi Azul, MMW, Tiamo, tnman and VanGogh. Hope everyone is having a good evening.

Concur on John Scalzi's book titled Redshirts and heartily recommend his Old man's War and that books follow on's. He's a really quirky kind of writer and a little abrasive in some of his views but I like his writing none the less.

Yes, I liked Old Man's War, that is a great book. (Though, it's no Joe Haldeman's "The Forever War" and it's follow on.)

Morning all.

For the gaming geeks, if you haven't read Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, I highly recommend you read it. Fantastic book, and Spielberg is filming the big screen adaptation right now.

Good morning all.

So the jargon thing has me curious. What jargon terms do you use the most?

For me, I am always referring to dunnage, QC and Boss a lot. I call the boss at the pizza place Boss just because there is more than one Joe and I hate calling out all of em.

I have actually head this from several people; I'm told the audio is read by Wil Wheaton, so it's on my list now

Morning everyone. I've got PT today so it will be my first longer run with the truck after the antifreeze thing earlier this week. Not smelling the antifreeze smell anymore but I'll keep an eye on it.

Happy Birthday to my Marines. :rose:

Forgot to answer today's question.
For me language is a mix of geek, military, LEO and me.
I'm probably the oddest one to figure out.

If you haven't read any of his books then check out John Ringo...he changes venues a lot so things stay interesting.

Azul...I've used so many acronyms or abbreviations or buzzwords its absurd.

You guys are so hard to stay away from. Fucking addicting Spacesters.

First off, I almost died from embarassment when I get a Skype message this morning from someone seeing himself in my screenshot. I could've warned him, maybe he doesn't want to be known as affiliated with a deviant Litster, haha.

Next, I had to google "red shirt". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redshirt_(character)

I so love my nerdy friends!!! Always learning things here.

By the way, I love the red accents on the dragon in those screenshots. :)

Poor Azul!

you know, that means you're gonna die in the landing party, Azul
Oh no!

And as the character in Galaxy Quest said...."not the red shirt!!!"
I really gotta see that movie again.

Hello Paul, I just ordered that book! $10 on the Kindle.

Currently I'm reading CyberStorm by Matthew Maher, it's free on Kindle Unlimited. Also, in development for film.

Morning all.

Oh yes, of course I've read Ready Player One! I read it as an ebook several years back and just last month bought a physical copy too. I bought probably 3 physical copies to give to friends. I will definitely be reading it again before the movie next year or so.

Chris doesn't know much about gaming. All he plays are boring, solitary games. ;) I had to even teach him how to use mods/addons.

I use gaming and have used programming jargon before. My ads on Match.com used a SQL query, Gaming lingo, and XML tags as the titles. Caught me lots of geeks. Chose 4, ended up with one.

I have actually head this from several people; I'm told the audio is read by Wil Wheaton, so it's on my list now
Ooh, maybe I'll get the audio then!

Good Morning to everyone.

Good Morning I guess its a short Work Week for most of us "enjoy" :)
Good morning SA, starry and dumpling!

Here's the type of jargon I read everyday ( changed a few words, but you get the gist). Don't copy this part, I may take it out soon.
aoe root, nerfed, op, bis, pvp, rng, wfs, sfp

lol what? Hunter has an aoe root that never lands, and I'm pretty sure breaks on damage. Ele's have uhhh...nothing lol. FYI there is no pvp ranger/sab hybrid. It's 61 ranger and 11 sab. That's not a hybrid.

Those are the two main ranged specs all gamers play, so tell me more about this excessive ranged CC again. You know what's excessive now? Having to tab six million times to actually target a player instead of their pet. In eq3 there was an option to remove player pets from being tab targeted, I wish this mmo had that option now.

FK is getting nerfed the moment SFP hits.

I haven't been on *** much in the last few weeks but from the wfs I have done I am noticing a lot of sab stuns getting hurled around and pyro cc which is still op even though their 5 sec stun is now only triggers on a successful interrupt.

I agree about trinkets being too OP and creating a gap in players though between those that have them and those that don't, but this is what most of the pvpers asked for in the first place that's whatever. If you make BiS pvp gear so that it doesn't really matter if you have it or not, then there's no sense in trying to get it.

Right now as a fresh pvper you want to get your trinkets and weapons ASAP, so at least you have something immediately to work towards that doesn't RNG from a box, or come from doing PVE.

I'm all for BiS pvp gear being OP. But I just wish it would work outside of WF's though
