The Living Works of Art Challenge II - Female Body Edition

Just popping in to say I haven't forgotten about 'The Cold Girl', JRP... I was away all weekend, busy yesterday at work, and have had a horrid day in the office today, so I don't want to be that girl just yet, I want a warm comforting fire and a big mug of hot chocolate... :(

Man, this was harder than I had expected. That damn blanket was not cooperating with me at all! I had to wrap myself like a mummy so it wouldn't fall off after setting the timer and running away far enough. I need one of those pashmina thingys.

This is a 'fuck it, it's good enough' pics.

Oh it's much better than 'good enough', Tali. Utterly lovely, in fact. :rose::kiss:

Laughing! Amen, sister... I tried with a quilt [too stiff] and two different silk shawls [too slippery, couldn't get silk to stay on my head]. When I concentrated on the legs, I got the head tilt wrong, or the arms. Ended up with LOTS of out-takes and nothing quite right.

I love your interpretation, Tali, so presumably my "fuck it, it's good enough" will also pass muster.

Much appreciated CanadianM after all that drama! LOL

Ha! Right? The silk stayed on my head but it wouldn't stay over my shoulder. My bed was piled with crap that was a flop for this picture.

I love this though Mara, well done! Great colors for you!!

I know the feeling.
But it turned out beautifully in the end.

A deceivingly tricky one.
You got it in though Mara. Well done.

Beautiful
Thank you.
You get the lines and shading so well, and my highest praise for the legs on the model.:rose:
I am glad you like it.

Moody and evocative.
...
Thank you Mara.

I loved the edit on your picture. The picture itself is gorgeous and so so sexy. Well done Tali.

I liked yours as well Mara. It really was hard keeping y he drape to hold up while trying to get adequate distance from the camera etc.
Nicely done.

Thanks Icy :rose:, I'm glad I wasn't alone!

If this is a "just good enough" pic, I'd love to see what you get with more time. You don't need a pashmina thingy, you maybe need a photographer thingy (and I'd volunteer and bring my thingy).:rose::devil:

Pass muster is an understatement for this alluring pose. And we'd love to see the out-takes when covers fell off.:rose::devil:

My rendition

Gorgeous. I love the sheen. I don't feel 'cold' from it, but it has a sense of mystery and intrigue which I find very appealing.

Oh, and just ... legs!

I decided to go for modern art.
Winter, girls are cold.
Modern solution, put a hoody on.

Brrrr, now this is cold. Icy cold, in fact. We can't see that the girls are cold, but we can ... imagine ;)

But it's lovely, Tali! Quite a tease going on there, too. I love how your legs taper down into the swirly stuff.

And that's lovely, too Mara. That two-tone shadow on the wall behind you is fantastic, it echoes your shape beautifully, but it also has something faintly madonna-esque about the head.

Fuck it, Mara, it's excellent! :rose::kiss:

YAY! 😘

Beautiful Mara!!:rose:

Thanks, Ed.

It was entertaining to see how many ways it could go wrong, for such a simple pose.
Thanks, Tali. The shawl is champagne silk, so the antique filter was perfect.

A deceivingly tricky one.
You got it in though Mara. Well done.

I'm so dutiful about assignments. HA.
Even though I didn't persist to actually get it right. This is progress for me in letting go!

I liked yours as well Mara. It really was hard keeping y he drape to hold up while trying to get adequate distance from the camera etc.
Nicely done.

I enjoy thinking of us all working on the challenges.
Thanks, Lizzie.

Yes, there was a nipple determined to escape! HA

Thanks for helping me like it better, Numi.
I found the original madonna-esque and was aiming for that, but I hadn't paid any attention at all to the shadow.

Challenge #4

Hello Ladies,

It was nice to see the flurry of "Cold Girl" entries in the last day. The time has come for your next challenge. Hang on to your drapings, because you will need them again. Also, we return to Venus again! I guess I just have 'Venus envy.' :D

This week's challenge is Venus Italica by Antonio Canova:

Since my links didn't work, pictures of the subject sculpture are a couple of posts below, kindly provided by Fred.

Seems like I've done something wrong and none of my links work. I will fix it tonight. In the meantime, you should be able to do a google search.
