Too fat to be beauty contestant

My point being, Lady F, if you must set ideals for little girls, I will choose Ashley Graham. I have the same measurements and I work out. I'm just not in my 20s and beautiful.

Of course now we are changing the thread subject but...

Personally I think it is foolish to set physical ideals for little girls at all (except for athletics which I agree with for those athletically inclined). But if you insist on it for some sort of self esteem issues, you'd have to go with the average woman in a given country. Here in the US, that would be size 18. That is obtainable. Ashley Graham's body is probably attainable by 2% of the female population.

Funk & hashy think SexyAlison is the ideal of beauty.

More clavicle than curves, yes?

I never said that, but given a choice I'd rather wake up tomorrow looking like this chick than to be obese. I could whip this body into shape in a few months. Obese would take a couple of years and I'd end up with gross flappy skin hanging off me.

Your attempt to shame me has failed.

Funny thing though, her body is just as unrealistic as slender models. She's probably a good 30 pounds overweight, but the fat goes perfectly to tits hips and ass, still has a flat belly, no face fat, slender arms, firm legs.

If you packed on 30 pounds would you look like her?

Hell no! That is VERY very rare. You'd have a big gut and/or a sloppy floppy bucket, a chubby face etc, as would I. .
Good points as usual.
That gorgeous hourglass figure at her weight is unusual.

And these pageant and modelling shows that are saying: "Overweight is cool, look at those 9 contestants who made ot to Miss Universe!" are doing the same mistakes that they did when they promoted the skinny culture.

Why not encourage mainly contestants who have an average BMI, instead of mixing the two extremes (skinny girls with plus size models)? Which looks odd.

Because THAT is what young teens (who are the main demographic who watch the show, and among whom obesity is increasing at an alarming rate) should try to emulate:
Average, healthy BMI and healthy eating habits.

QUESTION:

For Magnetron and the other guys who keep saying that the plus models rock, whereas the thin contestants are anorexic and ooglee.
and who attacked posters who hold a different opinion,

Do you guys think that such an attitude will make it more likely for you to get cyberlaid?

A. The only thing I said is that you and your comment was stooopid for saying it wasn't a good idea to put one woman next to bunch of other women because of in your words, she would look like a whale.

B. I've been married for 24 years

Please don't bring BMI into the argument. There are healthy bodies that are considered obese, using the BMI scale. Other factors must be weighed.

Eat right, get a moderate degree of exercise, what ever shape you end up with is beautiful.

No such thing as an ugly women just some more beautiful than others.

Goes for the guys too.

Well I keep saying that this isn't about women from real life, and I'm not exactly runway material either.

It's about a show. And at least 5 of those 9 contestants (not Miss Runnerup) look clearly overwight to me. No matter how gorgeous they look.

Why start doing the same mistake that these shows did when they started, but in reverse?
Whereas before they promoted the skinny culture, now the subtle message that they're giving is: overweight is ok.

It's ok to say that to adults, maybe. But don't give this message to impressionable teens who are watching the show. Especially given this worrisome surge in child and teen obesity.
And there are better ways to combat discrimination against people who are a bit overweight.

When I use the term "obese" I refer to body fat percentage. That is factual for individuals.

BMI is meant for aggregated data use and it is accurate within that context.

It's not just the 'body' by which I guess you mean the bits you can see, but the impact on organs and systems. It's generally healthier for women to be very slightly over than underweight. And....as this progress the impact is greater, in people who aren't extreme weights for reasons like fitness.

I'd rather not have an illness than made an unhealthy relationship with food and control for either fatter or thinner. Poor woman, and her poor family.

I am well aware however I stand by my choice of preferring to have an anorexic body over and obese one.

If I had a choice of womanly fleshiness to crawl up into and wear like a catsuit,

it would be Fata's.

And where did Aphroditiac go?

I wanted to ask her what her Bowel Movemen Inconsistency was.

Sort of dumb, LF. She came in second in the Miss Italy contest. Second, runner-up. It's not like she wasn't judged to be in the running with her shape. So, it's really dumb to say competing/winning with a curvy figure will never happen. She came in second in a national beauty contest. Looks like your idea of reality is being challenged with some success.

Italians love curves and LF is a raging narcissist so I think the jealousy factor is at play.

Plus sized models are just as genetically gifted as standard sized models.

Once again, LadyF seems to have won the debate. The voice of realism and logic.

And no, I'm not saying this because I'm a "misogynistic racist" who discriminates against overweight women, as some geniuses keep telling me.
Hell no, since I'm not an hour-glass shape either, and I carry a couple of extra pounds as well.

Wikipedia:
"A study of the shapes of over 6,000 women, carried out by researchers at the North Carolina State University circa 2005 found that 46% were rectangular, just over 20% spoon, just under 14% inverted triangle, and 8% hourglass"

"A study found nine in ten women didn’t know their body shape – with many mistakenly believing they have a wasp waist and hourglass curves.
Though canny celebrities may use silicone to alter their measurements and give themselves more classical proportions, most mere mortals will remain pear or courgette-shaped."
