Climate continues to change.

Maunder minimum

Climate change is man made? Look up the maunder minimum. How full of ourselves to think we can change the weather.

“In the last 30 years we’ve really moved into exceptional territory,” Gavin Schmidt, director of Nasa’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, said. “It’s unprecedented in 1,000 years. There’s no period that has the trend seen in the 20th century in terms of the inclination (of temperatures).”

“Maintaining temperatures below the 1.5C guardrail requires significant and very rapid cuts in carbon dioxide emissions or co-ordinated geo-engineering. That is very unlikely. We are not even yet making emissions cuts commensurate with keeping warming below 2C.”

Quick question:

Considering the age of the Earth, what percentage of geologic time does ONE THOUSAND YEARS represent?

Hint: It is not 14%, contrary to what you might have read in your Global Wamining Alarmist Edition of the Bible.

Bonus question: What is the level of accuracy for global recorded temperatures from, say, 984 year ago? I think it was a Thursday. . .

Still displaying your lack of understanding of chaotic math, bifurcations and strange attractors.

The graph/chart/clever presentation which was meant to convince simple minds gets thicker in both directions, and is not consistently higher year-to-year and too short a span of time to fully explore the bounds of bifurcation...

Here you can see a proxy-based reconstruction of global temperature anomalies over time, from 500AD to the 1800's, where actual temperature records are shown up to the present.

Pretend that you don't see the solid line, and just look at the shaded area and the blue dots.

You can see the span called the Medieval Warming Period, with a level of uncertainty that's pretty wide. Did it really happen or not? Hard to say for certain.

Now notice the blue dots. These are what we are certain about. There used to be lots of low dots, but now there are none.

The solid lines represent the average temperature anomaly. Its slope shows how abrupt the changes occur. What Dr. Schmidt said is that the slope is steeper right now than it has been in the past 1,000 years.

I know science and math are the hard subjects. People like AJ are much better at learning social skills.

Again (*patiently*), A_J actually has Science and Math degrees which is why he can clearly see that FroDOH! is just aping what he reads from sources he agrees with (but does not understand, so he doesn't even know that he is killing his own argument).

And yes, they are hard subjects which is why you eschewed them from Junior High on...

DO YOU EVEN HAVE A DEGREE??? Of any sort?

What is your degree in?

Do you have one?

;)

If you want to infer that I do not understand math and science, then help us understand why you think you know so much about it, as you did the topic of semiautomatic weapons.

Tell us again, Sensei Rotundo, how one dollar, one quarter and one nickel equals 91 cents. Extra credit if you show your work.

edited to add:
Blast from teh past: AJ explains how one times anything is always one

So, FroDOH!

You cannot answer as to your degree, so we can assume none, or meaningless.

I, on the other hand, as hard as math and science can be, do have degrees, was trained as a meteorologist in the Marines, built models to facilitate chips design and computer architecture and well as data modeling for the telecommunications industry, but I have no idea as to what the Climatologists are talking about, but you do...

I've said it once before and I'll say it again, you choose to believe and it has become a religion to you and religion requires confession, contrition and a call to action, mainly proselytizing. All you have to do is parrot your preachers and that makes you good, holy and self-riteous. And, like all other religions, science be damned.

Quite a resume, AJ!

I, on the other hand, ... was trained as a meteorologist in the Marines
I was working the Gene Loves Jezebel show
I am a trained meteorologist
I was a Marine.
I was a bouncer.
I've been a bodyguard.
I've worked Concert Security.
I'm BATMAN!

The spirit of JamesBJohnson lives on....
*nods*

And it's worth noting that now, at the peak of his career earning years, he's unloading trucks on the graveyard shift....

July 2016 was the 15th consecutive month of record-breaking temperature anomaly. This is the longest such streak of 137 years of NOAA records.

July 2016 combined average temperature worldwide broke the record high July last broken in July 2015.

July 2016 was the 40th consecutive July with higher than average temperatures. The last July cooler than average was in 1976.

July 2016 was the 379th consecutive month with higher than average temperatures. The last month cooler than average was December 1984.

Remember that there are new averages.

*chuckle*

We all know I never said anything like that and that Throb can provide no link to it...

So, you never attended anything beyond High School?

I guess you've mentally blocked out the infamous so-called Fairtax thread, where you received your biggest ass-kicking (non-Dojo) in your life.

It was your magnum opus of deflection and deceit (two core principles of the so-called Fairtax).

The entire thread is worth a re-read, Firespin absolutely annihilates both you and the Cancer Magnet. It gets especially good around post 100 onwards.

You splutter mightily that after the USA enacts a so-called Fairtax, OPEC will automagically lower the price of a barrel of oil by 23%, because that's what the so-called Fairtax does. Sure it's not based in reality, but then very very few of your opinions are.

So the price of gas, with its 30% tax-exclusive so-called Fairtax applied, would raise the price of each gallon of gas to $1.30....but sprinkle a little fairy dust judiciously and squint really hard and voila....95 cents!
