I can't watch him for more than two minutes. I dislike is hyperbolic reactions to his guest's jokes. It's fake and insulting, not to mention un-funny.
Dave was good until he got old. I think Johnny was the best.
Kimmel is good.
Now i watch "Modern Family" re-runs late night.

I only see him in highlight clips picked out to run on news shows. He's fine taken that way. Johnny Carson was from a far more civilized era, so it was easy for him to be better at late-night show hosting.

the show has been geared that way from the inception...
short bits - flashy stupid bits - endearing bits - truly talented sketch work...
(all digestible bites)
the interviews are hardly worthwhile...

agreed... in long stretches, he is insipid
but...
if about a third of his bits are funny enough to have web legs...
