I suspect it is a cicada. They exit ground and cling to trees before emerging as adults and climbing to sing. Ugly fucker!

A locust is not always a locust. But a locust is always a grasshopper, Grasshopper.

yes,
of course,
but there are larger
concepts involved
than
categorization.

Honey and roasted locusts, were a protein feast.

Not everyone was entitled to bullock heart, lamb kidneys, and duck tongues.

Burnt sacrifices, were few and far between.

Nowadays, we drink roasted bone broth.

I have eaten fried locusts.

I don't recommend it. I'd rather eat raw Witchetty Grubs:

What you don't like extra crispy? That is my preference. I basically eat anything that's cooked. I don't like anything that wriggles around my tongue and throat. Live octopus? Aww hell no.

Squid?

Notice it's chopped up body wriggling around on the plate.

Meat is always nasty if you think too hard about it.

I suppose, that is why a roasted locusts must be eaten with honey...

A Bay scallop, fresh from the sea, eaten raw, is delightful.
Candy of the sea.

Then, again, I had to get accustomed to something that was alive, in my mouth.
The scallop would wriggle on my tongue.

My innocent experience, prepared me for my love affair with my husband to be. *wink*

Supressing dirty thouhgts...

I ate raw seafood, before I ate Japanese sushi.
The sushi chef told me that scallops have many pretty blue eyes.

I am glad that I was told that, after I was being introduced to raw scallops.

I always wondered how scallops knew to flip their shells, and swim away from danger.

A few summers, ago, the local Boston newspapers suggested eating cicadas.
I found one hiding outside of a window casing.
Not yummy looking.

I don't like food that looks back at me with eyes. I wish I could make sense of this but I can't.
