Well they've got me convinced because I listen to them yammer on about economics and foreign policy and can laugh at the number of things that any given one of them don't know without fooling myself into thinking I'd be great at every aspect either.

I do believe we need professional politicians and that really even when the Founding Fathers were talking about citizen farmers they were equal parts fooling themselves and working within the confines that only land owning Americans who at that point were likely decently educated would be stepping up in the first place. Even then I believe they were being naive.

I don't deny that politicians come out rich. We have a problem with lobbiests. We have a problem with politicians being able to vote themselves greater and greater fortunes. That is ultimately a separate issue.

I will say I find it odd that so many of these pollsters select for so many Democrats and so few Republicans in their sample. Makes no sense to me, especially since Obama only beat Romney by 3.9% in 2012.
