Even one clothespin on tongue and making her say "I'm sorry sir" or whatever is a simple but effective punishment.

It is fun to figure out what you like!

I realized along the way that control doesn't have to be over the top. Don't get me wrong - I love all that stuff: the equipment, rules, restraints, being marked, wearing a collar or cuffs.

That being said, sometimes it's the little things that reinforce control.

"Smiles" and that chimes with your post about it being the little things too, the look, the gentle steer, the overt selection of your outfit, your meal choice even ....

I think you are right, they do lose their stimulating effect, you become used to their impacts and both the mind and subtle stuff, and using different object to do similar things keeps variety (just placing a bulldog clip out instead of a clamp has an amazing effect I noted once!)
