Create a second account?

When I started writing and submitting stories to Lit, my intention was to use it as a means of exploring my more taboo kinks. Then I began a series that’s way more mainstream. I kinda don’t want the two ends of my spectrum to mix.

Is it possible to create a second account—one that I can take home to mama—delete some stories from the original account, and repost them to the new one? It’d be fine if they can’t retain their votes, comments, and favorites (though, of course that would be preferable).

Is this something Laurel allows? I’m sure I’m not the first person to want to do this, so… any thoughts?

I have multiple accounts. I have some with no GM stories in them (what I have mostly in this account, although I write across the board in this one). I also have a shared account with my coauthor for stories we've written together. I've encountered no problem with the Web site in setting up and running them.

I find it hard just to keep up and maintain the one account I have. I am not gonna hide who I am or what I write about from anyone. If they don't like who I am or what I write about, there are plenty of other authors/ writers on this site to choose from.

That's fine for you. The OP asked an "is it possible question" and gave a reason for having a separate account that many agree with. Didn't really ask for a why/why not discussion.

Like sr said, sure. Some folk keep several accounts, one for the boards and others for posting stories.

Then there are the alt accounts on the GB, which is a whole nother animal.

That's good to know. Thanks :)
Have you tried transferring stories between the accounts, though? I'm scared to delete them from this account if it turns out I'm not able to repost them on the new one.

Also--Out of curiosity, what's the GB?

A PM to Laurel would help greatly. Explain what you want to do and why. From there she can rearrange which stories go with which authors name. You might have to do an edit if you used a title and by line in the original story.

GB=General Board.

I'd really like my best friend to be able to access my stories. I'd also really like my best friend to remain unaware that I fantasize about incest.

How does one PM Laurel? I tried going through the Contact tab in her bio, but it doesn't allow for actual contact. Is there another way?

No, I haven't tried transferring stories from one account to another.

The GB is the General Board here--sort of another world altogether from the erotic stories theme of this site.

Multiple Accounts

Yes.

I have several. One for each type of writing that I have attempted.

Nathan is my account for Satire, so it works fine here on the boards. My Romance work has a different pen name.

When I arrived here, a wily old(ish) vet endorsed this path...and I thank her every chance that I get.

The General Board is a place to watch from a safe distance before deciding whether to risk the shark-infested waters.

It can be enjoyable if treated with caution.

Or without caring what comes back at you. Keeping into account that most of these folks are just freeloaders who make no contribution to the story site and thus don't have to be shown any regard/respect.

No contribution?

Surely you jest? The fiction in some GB posts is more outrageous than some posted fantasy stories.

I PMd Laurel last night and got a response pretty quickly.

"No problem! Simply make a story submission form in either account titled "TRANSFER STORIES". In the story text field, list the stories you wish transferred, and which username you wish them to be transferred from and to. Stories will retain all data (views, votes, comments, approval date, etc.) Only the username will change."

That's a lot better and easier than I was expecting!

As for the GB, it sounds like I should keep my distance. I'm still recovering from a MySpace forum I got sucked into years ago. It was psychologically scarring, morally bereft, super incestuous, and every thread degenerated into a libertarian grief fest.
If the GB is anything like that, I think I'll just stick with you guys in this nice, safe space ;)

A bit off topic, but I would think having multiple accounts is a dead giveaway to those who like to manipulate votes on the stories. I mean, come on, who wouldn't do that if they A) submitted stories to the site and B) had more than one account they could access the site.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. That's one reason I left A.F.F.

I'm with you on the "stick with you guys in this nice safe place". If I post a thread anywhere else on this site, I'm sure to get 5-6 PM's soon as it hits the discussion board inquiring about me, availability, Skype, KiK, and cyber sex.

I have three accounts:

oggbashan - my main story writing nom-de-plume
jeanne_d_artois - created to write stories from a female point of view
Fag-Ash_Lil - a character in one of jeanne_d_artois' stories.

They are all known to be oggbashan. But I don't use any of them to vote on my own stories.

I have no doubt that some people use alt accounts that way, but would it really make much of a difference?
The stories I post in I/T gets hundreds of votes each. I'm way too lazy to create the number of accounts it would take to skew my rating by more than a point or two.
