Your dream vacation?

But what was So striking about Fiji:
When the minibus drove us from the airport to the resort: such a contrast between the abject poverty of the natives & their houses as we drove, and the opulence o. the resort (which was quite affordable by westetn standards).

All that tourist money pouring into the island and only a small % reaches the native population. Outrageous .

There is this inclusive at Xel-Ha...

;) ;)

If you just ignore the broken English of the time-share sales people, it is almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River...

There are tours to ceynotes in the Yucatan that demonstrate the same exact thing.

Plus, in Manzanilla, all that you have to do is visit the sister cove to see the same damned thing.

You can also see the same damned thing in our American "Sanctuary" cities...

I don't think places 'beat' each other. That's why i miss travelling and enjoyed living in different places. I enjoy places different flavours, the things that are unique, and how they deal with the same issues that face everyone. I enjoy the mixture of different and same that is found in people and places near and far, and how places in different continents can remind me of another, yet be so different, and how cultures can be diverse and yet people same.

I am terrible at choosing 'favourite' anything, ( its incredible i got married really! :D) but it seems to me often we don't have to and there is no point thought boxing into a corner.

I used to enjoy steep mountains and the adrenalin rush.
But as I get older - tropical-looking paradises are the It for me. Australia is really incredible : you have that feel but with the western lifestyle.

New Zealand is unique too: so green + I used to literally have a forrest in my backyard at one point, and it was quite affordable. And you have everything there : mountains, holliday beaches like Tauranga and Napier, exotic places like Rotorua, and awesome cosmopolitan city like Auckland. Only one hour apart, by plane.

But unlike Australia and the States - who still are unfair in their attitude towards their natives:
NZ made ammends. Maoris appear to be given certain privileges over there, and I haven't seen the overt racism that some australians (who, ironically are the same people who are kind towards immigrants) display towards their natives.
((I only use the word "natives" in order to get my point across.))

Nobody is oppressing me.

I have been able to do anything and everything I have wanted to do in my life, I can even be a girl now and uses the women's bathroom. The only idiots who cannot do what they want are down on the res dreaming of the day when they can be relieved of the trappings of civilization and go back to the hunter-gatherer life...

HELLO! IDIOTS!

Move to Alaska...

Most third world resorts are like that.

No wonder they hate the developed world.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Is it related to what you mentioned at one point? That you're half german, half native american?

But if you want to refer to the native american half. You were brought up in different circumstances than some do, I suspect. You grew up in a less poor city or town, and you are educated. I suspect that it's hard for those who were raised in those dead-end places, to manage to surpass the destiny that has been chosen for them.

Most third world resorts are like that.
No wonder they hate the developed world.
Wow… I only went to resorts in Fiji, but it was so shocking… The delapidated state of those huts (I can't even call them houses) in contrast to the opulence of resorts…

Let me put it this way #query...

;) ;)

I was down on the res with my teacher and he told me, "look at all these lazy bucks laying around blaming the white man for all of their problems! All they have to do is get a job! I did! You did!"

Back in the day when we were young and spry and didn't mind sleeping on the ground, we tent-camped from our old Chevy pickup ('ute' to some of you) or later the Land Bruiser. Vacations were scheduled because jobs. But no reservations -- pack up the gear and supplies and animals (2 or 3 dogs and a cat) and head in some direction from our home north of San Francisco. Roll up the Redwood Coast for a week or two, or take a month bouncing around the Southwest deserts. Same for weekends, long weekends, sometimes out camping and rafting with friends, sometimes clothed, sometimes not.

Dream vacation? Not a cruise -- we did one and it sucked. Tropical beaches? They're OK every now and then but we prefer Mexico's mountains to its coastal resorts. We're thinking of packing our recumbent bicycles and taking a pedal tour of northern Europe, y'know, the flatter parts. Our BikeE ATs are just about the best means of human-powered travel. Maybe we'll add little electric motors to help us up the steeper hills. (Hey, we're in our late 60s and can use a little help every now and then. Especially now.)

My partner's sister was a VERY senior financial executive who has always taken luxury vacations -- flying first-class to interchangeable resorts, to mix with the same elite class doing the same things with YUGE price tags. Such is not our idea of fun. We spent three weeks walking Italy's Amalfi coast, not being chauffeured as she would. YMMV.

I honestly don't know much about what UK has to offer. I have only been in London so I am sure it has tons of wonderful sights to see.

Can any Brits help me learn more about what their country has to offer?

]

Google Stinchcombe Hill, Gloucestershire, then look at 'Images of Stinchcombe Hill.' I grew up within 4 miles of it and went to school even closer. A walk around the top of the hill which is in the South Cotswolds, between Wotton-Under-Edge and Dursley takes about two hours and includes some of the best scenery in England.

Stinchcombe Hill was where as youths we went with our girlfriends. The long grass on a summers day brings back good memories.:)

PS Dursley has "The Old Spot," a pub twice voted the finest drinking pub in Britain.

Wut? Feeling even more angry and impotent, after I sent you pm's about your needle dick and homosexual past, instead of falling into your "traps"?

Keep'em coming, loser. Do I care any more about your posts here? Nope. But am I enjoying the opportunities that you're offering? Of insulting and emasculating a nutless man, who "sublimates" his sexual frustration through stalking people with racist, xenophobic and homophobic slurrs?

You and Emerson83 should just drop the bullshit, come out and fvck each other.
